These advanced license plate readers have pretty much ended the idea of having any privacy at all while driving...unless they are regulated.

As with most intrusions on privacy, the suppliers of the hardware go out of their way to tell the police to NEVER advertise the capability - so who knows how many there are and where they are. Also, as always happens, someone will have to get killed before serious efforts at privacy are started.

It’s nice to see MN starting to look at it, here in Texas we’re just BLISSFULLY IGNORANT about it.

Until the data was temporarily classified late last year, anyone could ask police for a list of when and where a car had been spotted.

Just the stuff for figuring out where the ex-wife is so you can give her a little talking-to.
