The article you link us to is over six years old, and since that time I’ve read other articles explaining the failure of that Boeing system in so much as a small thing called reality. Apparently the theoretical didn’t work in such application due numerous unforeseen obstacles, and billions of dollars were spent to no avail as I recall. Sorry I don’t have a link. I just remember reading about this initially as similar to your link, and subsequent reading as the project progressed unto the failure that it became.

Also sticking in my memory banks is the assault on Boeing by this administration when Boeing moved specific operations into the South to avoid union contracts forced upon them in Washington State. It is my understanding the relations between Boeing, and Obama have yet to be resolved favorably, therefore I wouldn’t believe Obama’s going to be in too much of a mood to grant Boeing anything until they totally knuckle under to the boss.

I don’t see how this Administration would be in favor of extending any such contracts much less from that period at this time as we approach unresolved sequestration.

So now the security net that detected cocaine and heroin flights (along with the potential terrorist infiltrators) is being dismantled? The article does not say how they can justify this. No amount of satellite tasking can make up for tracking low flights.

This is so the lefties can get their dope and make their money, all the while telling law abiding citizens we may not have firearms to protect us from the dope dealers and the tyrants in office.

Nice decision and stupid as hell. Been diving many times in the Bahamas and Carribean. Seen the blimps, flew with the Westinghouse techs, and they told me they can pick up a flight as it takes off from Cartagena, Colombia— even if it stays at 200 feet the whole way. In the Keys in the 70s they used to say when the balloon was reeled in you’d be kept awake from all the boats starting up and the planes taking off.

The powder monkey in the WH and his fellow marxist looking for funds from their “down for the struggle” latino pals.

Do you mean redundant system? As in this would be a backup to something else? What else- satellites (they can’t be tasked to individual flights)? Surveillance planes— can’t keep up with private low flying jets.

This is/was a relatively low cost deterrent which has busted a lot of dope flyers at a minimum.

Sure do, after they said thanks to Holder for shipping all the AK-47s down through Fast and Furious. What a nightmare, and what a-holes these marxist bastards are. This is one more impeachable offense vz. Constitutional oath. Racking up the offenses daily.

Maybe I’m missing something. The Rio Grande can be walked across in most places, right? Unless there is a flood stage all at once.

Here’s a link to photos and travelogue in the Big Bend Park. Pretty evident the “Natural barriers, such as the Rio Grande river, already make illegal crossings more difficult in the region than in other segments of the border, Nextgov reports”..sounds like a lot of BS. At least what is shown in these photos and the blog comments, not very deep, and a porous border as a result.

I trust my governor and know he would not go along with Obama and his plans..

On his Gubernatorial Website, Rick Perry discusses his positions regarding some of the tragic violence that has occurred in Mexico. His statement decrying the current state of border security follows below.

While our focus begins with preventing the worst of the violence currently raging in northern Mexico from spilling over into the United States, the violence is only part of the destruction that can result from a porous border. The free flow of drugs, weapons and people resulting from inadequate security can undercut economic development, education and trade. As such, they can hurt Texas families in every way imaginable, from loss of jobs to the loss of family members to addiction, imprisonment or death.

Governor Perry has approached this issue from the standpoint of a small government conservative. He has worked to help localities near the border put “more boots on the ground” in order to combat problems in these individual localities. In 2005, he and the Texas State Legislature gave The Texas Border Sheriffs Association $6 Million to hire more people to patrol the Mexican Border. This was dubbed Operation Linebacker and operated under the premise that a larger police presence would successfully deter criminal activity along the border.

Is this just a press release from a spurned vendor or this is a critical program being undermined by our Anti-American in Chief?
