Texas woman’s execution first in US since 2010

A Texas woman convicted of the gruesome slaying and robbery of her neighbor, a retired 71-year-old college psychology professor, is set to be the first woman put to death in the United States since 2010.

A Dallas County jury already found former nursing home therapist Kimberly McCarthy guilty of the 1997 killing when evidence at the punishment phase of her trial tied her to two similar murders a decade earlier.

“Once the jury heard about those other two, we were certainly in a deep hole,” recalled McCarthy’s lead trial attorney, Doug Parks. Jurors decided McCarthy should die.

Her execution, set for Tuesday evening, would be the first since a Virginia inmate, Teresa Lewis, became the 12th woman put to death since the U.S. Supreme Court in 1976 allowed capital punishment to resume. In that same time, 1,309 men have been executed. …

May God have mercy on her soul. As it is written, “the murderer shall surely be put to death” (Numbers 35:16).

Might be pertinent as well:
McCarthy is a former wife of Aaron Michaels, founder of the New Black Panther Party, and he testified on her behalf. They had separated before Booth’s slaying. …
The rest of the article describes how gruesome McCarthy was in murdering Dorothy Booth; a real look into the evil in the souls of people like this. If only we would mete out punishment to fit this crime aside from death.

Ah... So the killer was married to one of Holder's people.

Looks like a black on white racist murder (refer to the source with photos) plus there is strong evidence she also killed two more elderly women. This killer has been sucking in valuable oxygen for far too long-

This is one nasty creature. She was indicted on two other murders but not tried as she was found guilty on this death penalty case.

She beat three women to death on three separate occasions. One with a hammer, one a meat tenderizer and the one she was convicted for with a butcher knife. She stole their jewelry and pawned it for drug money. She left oodles of DNA and finger print evidence as well as a very bad story behind. She is a serial murderer.

If anyone deserves the death penalty, it is her!

Blast. Make that “in addition to death”. How does hanging, drawing and quartering sound?

Yeah, 15 years ago she should have gotten zapped. Where are the victims rights in this and many other crimes? Why do we cut so much slack for scummy druggy murderers. It is obvious she killed to get cash for her drug habits

The trouble with gruesome punishments that “fit the crime” is nothing you can do to the murderer will bring back the victims. And the existence of the death penalty doesn’t seem to deter enough would-be murderers, perhaps because it is still used in only a small percentage of cases.

What the death penalty does do is make sure that murderer will not repeat the crime.

I am in favor of execution being quick but not certain the medical injection methosd is best. There should be some trauma.

Hanging might be best.

And too many female murderers have gotten lighter sentences just because of their gender although their victims are just as dead!Same thing in juvenile cases, how many people murdered by teenagers are less dead than those killed by adults?

Put down the mad dogs.

I agree wholeheartedly. Likewise, the lavish feast served as a last meal should be abolished. The coddling of those on death row (even here in Texas where so many things are done right, see my tagline) must come to an end. I'll also add that the executions ought to be public -- very public -- to further the deterrent factor of capital punishment.

Bringing back the victims is not the point. Only God can do that. For the murderer to go out the same way as the victims would fit best. Never mind expediency in carrying out the sentence, which leaves the country as utterly disobedient to the admonition in Ecclesiastes 8:11, resulting in extremely hardened criminals.
Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

‘On Friday, her attorneys asked Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins to delay the lethal injection, citing his interest in Texas adopting a law to allow death-row prisoners to base appeals on race.’

WTH?

‘Evidence showed McCarthy phoned Booth to borrow a cup of sugar, then attacked Booth when she went to retrieve it. Booth was stabbed with a butcher knife, beaten with a large candle holder and robbed of a diamond wedding ring.

“(McCarthy) quite literally took the woman, put her left hand on a chopping block of the kitchen and then used a knife to sever her ring finger while she was still alive,” said Greg Davis, the former Dallas County assistant district attorney who prosecuted McCarthy. “She took the ring from the finger that had been severed and continued the attack until she finally killed her.”

Put this rabid monster down.

I agree. Public hanging should be the method used to put monsters down.

15 years?! Justice delayed is justice denied. Then again, justice has apparently been replace with JustUs in this nation. Doubly so in the People’s Republic of California.
