“Gomer Pyle, USMC” star Jim Nabors married his longtime male partner at Seattle’s Fairmont Olympic Hotel earlier this month, according to Hawaii News Now.
Nabors, a Hawaii resident, had never publicly come out. But his relationship with Stan Cadwallader wasn’t a secret before they decided to take advantage of Washington’s new same-sex marriage law, he told the news station.
“I’m 82, and he’s in his 60s, and so we’ve been together for 38 years, and I’m not ashamed of people knowing, it’s just that it was such a personal thing, I didn’t tell anybody,” Nabors he told the station.

When Rock Hudson was outed in the early 1970’s, Nabors was reputed to be his main squeeze.

Go back 38 years. If you were 44 would you start someone in their 20s? If you were in your 20s would you date someone in their 40s? Unusual but not unknown.

What was also amazing was that he did that in the context of filming the show. So he was being the silly Gomer Pyle and scuttled out there, and then INSTANTLY had to get his breathing together to put on a world-class performance. That was not easy, at all.
Consider all those movie love scenes Hudson appeared in.
He had to be the greatest actor ever...
