NEWTOWN -- Local residents still reeling from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings can voice their opinions Wednesday to state lawmakers looking to prevent similar tragedies.
Hundreds are expected to attend the 6 p.m. public hearing at Newtown High School held by the Bipartisan Task Force on Gun Violence and Children's Safety.
...Registration for the hearing is scheduled to begin at Newtown High School at 4:30 p.m. Organizers said Tuesday that anyone who comes early will be turned away, as the school building and parking lot are needed for regular school activities.
The hearing will be held from 6 p.m. to midnight. Preference will be given to relatives of victims and first responders. A lottery will be held to determine the rest of the speakers.

Where’s the police report?
Why wait for the facts when there's a crisis to exploit?
Because they're dead.
Big Government denied them the right to defend themselves.
Big Government held them hostage to the failed philosophy of disarmament.
BIG GOVERNMENT KILLED THEM.
I hope enough residents will go there and ask how things might have been different that morning if the principal had had a handgun in the drawer of her desk and used it.
“Gun Violence”. We are getting screwed semantically again as this pairing of words is saturating the media.
I plugged that phrase in my search engine and got over 719,000 hits. “Knife Violence” hit returned 548, “Automobile Violence” 156.
Ask anybody today what first comes to mind when you say gun, and I’ll bet most say “Violence”, so the antis’ technique is working yet again. Let’s make sure we don’t use that combo in arguing our position, and in fact, attack those who do.
