Quoting French sources, A-Sharq Al-Awsat quotes an exchange between Syrian President Bashar Assad and the international envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi.
According to the daily, Brahimi told Assad that he could not remain in power and that the opposition could defeat him, but the cost may be the complete destruction of Damascus. To that, Assad reportedly answered I will win the war, even if Damascus is destroyed.

If he leaves the country it will be hell for the Alawhites who remain behind. All of them will be tortured and killed. I bet many of them have been sneaking out of the country for months.
I would rather Assad win then the people Obama wants.
BTW, I wonder how Assad would react if he knew he was fulfilling HEBREW prophecy... LOL!
The Bible says that Damascus will be destroyed, but I am expecting Israel to do that.
That’s what I thought, I felt that “ They will be as the glory of the children of Israel” in v.3 pointed at Israel destroying Damascus. But it is not clear cut and Assad’s comment got me thinking. Is it important how and by whom Damascus is destroyed or just that it will be judged?

Assad will flee Damascus and run to his spider hole just like his fellow socialist worms Saddam and Kadaffy.
