NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Reports of damage and power outages were widespread across Middle Tennessee and Kentucky after a wave of severe weather and possible tornadoes moved through the area.
The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-2 tornado touched down in Mt. Juliet overnight. A warehouse and an automotive business suffered major damage, along with moderate to minor damage at other businesses and homes.
A semi truck was blown onto its side on Lebanon Road near the Hardee's in Mt. Juliet. The driver was sleeping in the cab when it happened, but fortunately was not hurt.
Sergeant Tyler Chandler with the Mt. Juliet Police Department said the roof was blown off the third floor of a building in the area. Two people inside the building were able to get out safely.
The National Weather Service Damage Survey teams will be at multiple locations on Wednesday and Thursday to determine if other tornadoes touched down. Those areas include Robertson County into Sumner County, from south of Springfield to near Portland; southeast Dickson County to north of Kingston Springs; Cannon County, northeast of Woodbury; Briar Pond Road in Hickman County; and Williamson County including Brentwood.
Interstate 40 Westbound at mile marker 228 is blocked by a jackknifed tractor trailer in Mt. Juliet.
A man was killed when a tree fell onto a shed on Abernathy Road in the Bordeaux area overnight. The family told NewsChannel 5 that the man lived in the shed.
