Egypt's protests reveal deficit of trust in Muslim Brotherhood

Open defiance of Egypt's president in street protests shows how much the Muslim Brotherhood needs to leave Islam outside the door of democracy.

Five days of protests in Egypt, with dozens of people killed and entire cities in turmoil, have revealed a whopping deficit of public trust in the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamic group that dominates the leadership of this young democracy of the Arab Spring.

*************************************************SNIP*************************************

In cities like Port Said, the protesters have displayed an open defiance of President Mohamed Morsi’s orders on a curfew and state of emergency. Egypt’s Army chief warns of the state collapsing. And indeed, many Egyptians now talk of splitting up the Arab world’s most populous state.

Wow; didn’t know that the Monitor’s editorial board was that much out of touch. The Muslim Brotherhood would never have gotten as far as it did if the Egyptian majority were against them. It’s like saying that the Iranian protests (in which Neda Agha-Soltan died, and which the Obama Administration lent absolutely no support to) represented the majority of the Iranians, which they also did and do not.

Of course the MB has strong opposition.
That country has Infidels, MINO Muslims, and secular people who know what's in store for them if the MB is successful in establishing Sharia.
This is a life or death matter for many of those Infidels stuck in Egypt.- Tom

“The Muslim Brotherhood would never have gotten as far as it did if the Egyptian majority were against them.”

Even a relatively small band of zealots, who are willing to do violence to any opponents, can dominate a nation — especially when the “majority” is fractious, or passive.

What gives? Mrs. Slick Willy Clinton stated in a MSM Pimp interview that all of the mid-east problems were the fault of the mess she inherited from Bush.

In this case, the majority is most certainly neither passive nor fractious. Even the liberal media has been forced to take note of the MB’s penchant for being well-organized.

Even the liberal media

Not one word on here about Obama's radical support of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Not one.

Are you asleep or does the media do almost all of your thinking for you?

Obama was wildly supportive of the Arab Spring. You know, where legitimate governments were overthrown and fanatical Muslims are placed in power.

Obama is sending US fighter jets to MB and is giving $$ to Egypt to buy submarines. There is no doubt that it is in the world's interest to give submarines to Egypt.

Obama is supporting terrorists in Libya to overthrow that government.

Obama lied about Benghazi and what is going on in Libya. Some think that Obama was giving weapons to Al Qaeda.

Does anybody on FREEREPUBLIC THINK?

I’ve mentioned Obama’s overt support of the MB a lot on different threads on FR, including the fact that he invites them to the WH and totally ignores the secular groups in Egypt, never mind his special treatment of the MB while snubbing Netanyahu. Obama’s speech in Cairo back in 2009 was part of the incitement towards the so-called “Arab Spring”, and was an event, if not the event, that pundits in the know cite as the abdication of the USA’s superpower status by Obama.

I don’t know how many mentions become a case of repeating myself or mere preaching to the choir, though, and I especially would think that such a matter was common knowledge on FR.

That doesn’t concern them in the least. Obama has complete trust in the Bruthha-hood and that’s all that matters.
