Georgia FReepers Please Check In
1/30/13 | me

Anyone have a GA ping list? Like to know our fellow GA FReepers are okay.

All of you were kind enough to do it for us Sandy Freepers, thought I'd return the favor.

Seems like that storm is heading our way. Cold meets warm....NOT good.

Saw the damage.

Regrettably, there isn't a Georgia ping list. You might want to post on the Georgia board.

According to the radar map out of Hinesville, the rain front should hit McIntosh County momentarily. In fact, the wind is kicking up right now.

I put GA on the topic and keyword. Regarding Sandy, there was just a FReeper asking us to check in.

Thought I’d do the same. It brought me such comfort.

Looks like it’s making it’s way up north.

It looks like it will blow out to sea in the next 10 minutes. We’re just getting the tail end of it here on the beach.

Watching now....stay safe! Looks like damage is coming BEFORE the rain.

Hopefully you’ll just get rain and no damage.

Adairsville (NW GA) was hit hard just before noon --twister tossed cars right across I-75-- a factory and a neighborhood were damaged there...

Umm...
Along with the ubiquitous & obligatory mobile home park.
... it is the South after all.

Atlanta suburbs had brief heavy rain and moderate winds only...

Some wind. Some rain. It’s over.

Was that the twister I’m watching now? They were talking about a cold front hitting a warm front...which is what Sandy was.

Bad news. They didn’t report tornadoes here but there had to be. Can’t explain the destruction any other way.

The East coast is getting hit hard. Wonder why./s

The Weather Channel is giving updates and showing some of the damage that has occurred. A portion of I-75 exit 306 was shut down for several hours due to vehicles strewn about the highway I believe in the Adairsville, GA area.

If it’s like it was in TN last night, the stronger, more-damaging winds are in front of the rain. The wind was horrendous here all night but once the rain started, the wind died down quite a bit. For those who got hit by the severe storms embedded along the front, it was a different story for a bit, though.
From what I could see, it was the same in GA today.

I don’t see a lot of red on the radar tonight so there shouldn’t be severe storms to worry about. Just a LOT of rain from the look of things.

We’re used to this in the spring and summer, but don’t expect it in the dead of winter! This is suppoed to be our break from severe storms and tornados.

Good to know. I’ve only heard about the tornado that hit Adairsville so maybe that was the only one to fire up in GA. There were 8 in TN last night. Maybe they took a lot of steam out of the system and spared everyone futher east.

It’s going to get cold now and my thoughts and prayers are with all the folks who lost their homes in all these storms, and for those who didn’t lose their homes but have no power for a few days.

Hey there, JJ!!!!!!

We’re ok. No real damage this time. Just a door hanging loose on one of the outbuildings but that’ll be easy enough to fix. The worst we suffered was jangled nerves all night long, listening to the wind roar. LOL!

Good to hear.

I am finally out of tornado and t-stormed South Carolina.

Traded it for -50 temps and snow.

My dad says I am crazy...

Yeah, I heard you’d moved. I have to agree with your dad! LOL! I don’t know how you can’t stand that kind of cold.
I think I’ll take my chances with tornados. Since we’ve been hit by one, I hope the odds are against us getting a direct hit again.
