Elephant rides are becoming endangered species at SoCal parades, zoos, fairs and festival.
Several organizations have yanked elephant rides from street fairs, festivals and zoos in SoCal, thanks to the lobbying efforts of Animal Defenders International.

When the only use for elephants is within the ivory trade, animal rights organizations will quiet down.
If cost quite a sum of money to feed an elephant.
If there is no profit to be made in owning an elephant very few private persons will own one. This leads to only one conclusion. Those persons currently owning an elephant for profit will either sell the elephants they own or dispose of them in some other fashion.
Given that the market for elephant is quite small and given the fact that their will be no profitable use for an elephant; it is inevitable that very few elephant will be sold as pets and a large fraction of the privately held elephants will be sold for pet food consumption.
So because the animal right organizations have put forth great effort to demonize the use of animals for human entertainment a good number elephants that could have lived long and productive lives will end up being food for Fido.

Group “helps” cancel elephant ride? WTF is that supposed to mean? Like 99% of the people wanted it to be cancelled? I say we take all these eco-wackos one at a time and drop them naked with nothing in the middle of the Amazon and let them commune with nature. Idiots.
What the Hell is wrong with riding elephants? The elephants prolly like the contact.
We took my Grandson to the Santa Ana Zoo a couple of years ago and he rode the elephant. I never saw any abuse in the hours we were there and they gave the animals breaks. It wasn’t like they pushed for eight solid hours of rides.
If elephants can’t work to pay for their medical they will forced on ObamaCare.
I make BBQ sauce in gallon lots. Just saying...
