Gayle Trotter of the Independent Women's Forum testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday, and did an excellent job in appealing to the young women/mothers at home on the subject of why the AR15 is so suitable, and even potentially necessary, for them as a home defense tool.

These are the things I've been waiting for the public Pro-Self-Defense advocates to say and, yesterday, Gayle Trotter finally said them. But, as expected, there was nary a peep about this in the media as far as I know.

I would agree with a women’s right to defend herself at home just not with a AR 15. A mossberg or remington shotgun would be the ones chosen.

Where-oh-where is the news reporting on this?Don't look for the mass media for 'reporting' - their self-appointed function is to advance an agenda that is hostile to this particular liberty. There is a one-fatality shooting in AZ that has captured the top-story headlines for more than a day now, while dozens of other shootings, and probably thousands of defensive gun uses, go unreported. They are pressing an agenda and only those stories that advance it will get any coverage.

Don't look for the mass media for 'reporting' - their self-appointed function is to advance an agenda that is hostile to this particular liberty. There is a one-fatality shooting in AZ that has captured the top-story headlines for more than a day now, while dozens of other shootings, and probably thousands of defensive gun uses, go unreported. They are pressing an agenda and only those stories that advance it will get any coverage. So true. My question was a rhetorical one, of course.

On recoil alone, an AR is a better choice for the average woman.

Hopefully, don’t don’t disagree to the point that you would support banning them. For some reason police officers think the right weapon for dealing with bad guys in a house is not only not a shotgun, it’s a select-fire M-16.

I still think the shotgun is the better home defense wepon..i bought my daughter a mossberg 12 gauge. She is a big girl and cn handle the recoil.
A smaller women could go with a 20 gauge or even a 410.
