DeLauro (D-CT) discusses SAFER Streets Act(2k tax credit to surrender scary guns)
WFSB ^

United States Rep. Rosa DeLauro wants to offer tax incentives for people who agree to turn in their assault weapons, as a way of getting the weapons off the streets.

DeLauro said the SAFER Streets Act is designed to prevent guns from falling into the hands of violent criminals, getting dangerous assault weapons off the streets and to improve the state's mental health system so it properly helps those in need.

The act will give gun owners a $2,000 tax credit when they turn their weapons in. According to experts, AR-15s usually cost about $1,000.

At the news conference Thursday morning, Joe Bango, the small business owner that proposed the legislation, handed over his AR-15 to Connecticut State Police.

"There are people who are going to say they can and do hunt with an assault weapon," said Bango at a news conference, which was held at the Connecticut State Police Headquarters in Middletown. "But, it is necessary, no."

Ok, so I go buy an 80% lower receiver, build a mold from that receiver. Cast my own 80% lower, buy a milling template for my bencktop drill press, mill it out the lower on my my home mill. According to the ATF, this is the firearm. I can then turn it in. Do this about once per week, do I get a $2,000 tax credit per? That would be a tax credit of $104,000. Heck, I could make money with this.

Yeah, it could work - but you might need a manufacturer's FFL to stay out of federal prison. You know how BATFE is when it comes to re-interpreting their own regulations, including those concerning home-built firearms.

I suspect they'll put some sort of cap on the credit to prevent us bitter clingers from making fools of them.

Isn’t she the Congresscritter whom so many people complained about as being rank (as in smell), and a walking advertisement for the necessity of bathing and the use of soap and deodorant?

start rounding up non working guns and cash in.

i’d even buy some cheap but realistic replicas and turn them in. after all their criteria is what the guns look like.

Is it a refundable tax credit? If so, I’m all for it. Once this hoopla blows over and the market re-stabilizes, I could turn in my old AR-15 and get enough tax dollars to buy two new ones!

In Connecticut He may get a $2000.00 dollar Credit but he’ll have to give a percentage back to the State for the next years income tax.

Government gives and the government takes away.

She's good with the gang-bangers and cartels having them. They're on her side.

They're the people who keep this sorry excuse for a congress critter in office. I've NEVER voted for, but it doesn't matter. The mooching class in New Haven LOVE her and she knows it!

I seriously thought that was Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell and was wondering why someone posted a photo of him on this thread.
