Man Chases WPEC Reporter, Cameraman Off Property at Gunpoint

WPEC reporter Al Pefley (right) and cameraman Dana Szpunar have filed a complaint with the Palm Beach County sheriff’s office after a homeowner chased them off his property with a gun...

Pefley, who wore dark clothes, had been knocking on doors to find residents willing to be interviewed when he arrived at Jeffrey Eassa‘s property. Eassa, 47, is a former principal at Acreage Pines Elementary.

Pefley admitted that the gate to Eassa’s driveway was padlocked, but the door to the walkway wasn’t. So Pefley and Szpunar, camera on his shoulder, walked up the house. They startled Eassa, who was packing his car in the driveway.

“Get the f… off my property, that’s how people get shot,” Eassa told the men as he ran inside the house. He came out with a handgun and, according to Pefley’s statement to PBSO, followed the men to the property line at gunpoint as a woman in the doorway of the house yelled: “Jeffrey, get back here!”

The only reason to do that is to make an anti-gun political statement. Time to picket the reporter’s home.

After dark, in dark clothing. Carrying torches

The "media" don't think regular rules/laws apply to them, only to the "little" people (us). They are exempt from such laws because they support their selected boy-king and are allowed to go anywhere and ask anyone anything.

The "reporter" was told to leave the property but didn't until forced to by the owner. How would the owner know they were "media"? Criminals are known to have impersonated LEO's, for cryin' out loud.

And to conservatives, the "media" are considered the lowest form of criminal there is... well, maybe not as bad as pedophiles, but still, pretty much low-life scum. The "media" better start to get a clue that we hate them even more than they hate us!

We need more, not less, of this. It’s time to have a serious discussion about limiting the 1st Amendment freedoms that the media enjoys. They have demonstrated over and over that they cannot and will not accept the responsibilities that goes along with such freedom. Obviously, regulation is the only answer.

Yeah, semi-sarc

Yes. Some common sense restrictions need to be instituted. The pen being more mighty than the sword, I propose that certain sensitive locations be reporter-free zones.

A bit of advice from hard-won experience: Apply a good patch of white paint or primer and let it dry -- before applying the purple paint over it.

Otherwise, the purple paint will absorb into many types of bark -- and will be nearly invisible when it dries...

This, to me, seems like a normal reaction by the property owner, and I have no problem with it. He doesn’t know who these turds are or their intentions.

These nazi propagandists should thank Satan that they weren’t dispatched in pieces to hades.

I’m on this man’s side.

When dealing with the enemy, present your worst possible side.

It is a relatively new law within the statutes of the Secretary of state regulations.

I will try to relocate it and give you the exact reg when I get time.

Overreaction?

They trespassed on his property and he told them in no uncertain terms to go away.

Even in Palm Beach, a Floridian has the right to protect themselves and their property from uninvited intruders.

Poor scared reporters. How awfull for them to experience intimidation!(heavy sarcasm)
Their managers should be required to review the rules with them on what is marginally acceptable on public property, and what is not allowed on private property.
