Glock, Paper, Scissors: Armed Guard Stops Shooter

Guns: While DHS seeks 7,000 semiautomatic guns with 30-round clips for self-defense, it makes a video saying you should use scissors to overpower armed predators. Luckily, a school guard in Atlanta thought differently.

Vice President Joe Biden criticized, on Jan. 23 during a Google+ Hangout, the suggestion by NRA chief Wayne LaPierre to put armed guards in every school in the nation.

"We are not calling for armed guards in schools . .. we think that would be a terrible mistake," the vice president said during the PBS "Fireside Hangout."

On Thursday afternoon, a student opened fire at Price Middle School in Atlanta, wounding a 14-year-old in the neck before an armed officer working at the school was able to get the gun away possibly averting yet another mass shooting. Police say the shooter had a grudge against the victim, but the armed guard's intervention made sure the incident went no further.

Some would argue an unarmed guard or teacher could have done the same, or they might have been the shooter's next victim. The incident should raise in the minds of gun-control advocates how things might have been different if an armed guard had been patrolling Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Maybe Wayne LaPierre wasn't crazy after all. Certainly his idea is more practical and less goofy than the suggestion in a video produced by the Department of Homeland Security that was posted on the agency's website just a month after the massacre at Sandy Hook.

The video, titled "Options for Consideration," advises that people who get caught in an "active shooter" situation should run away, hide under a desk or take cover out of the line of fire. But the video also touts an option for self-defense — the right to bear scissors

Post your school building as a ‘hardened target’; that is, brag there are ARMED guards in place to take out gun toting crazies.

Of course, if you put that sign at the town limits you may just retard crime enough to make a difference.
You could call it ‘Shooters Roulette’ some are armed, some may be armed, “Come on in and find out”.

Make them ‘think’ if nothing else.

Don’t forget the tried and true method of balling up in a fetal position...

Tried and true tactics.

I am ‘old enough’ to get away with either wimpering/simpering in the back ground, ‘fake’ a heart attack, or generally ‘lose it’, giving me a CHANCE to get to my ‘self defense system’ and assess the situation while virtually going unobserved other than a few ‘shut that old fool up’ remarks - by then I am ‘ready to go’.

When they ask why CCW for school teachers, staff, and administrators, here is why:

1. Gun Free School Zones are magnets for deranged killers because they know their victims cannot defend themselves.
2. Where armed citizens have opposed a school shooter, 2 people on average were killed; where there were no armed people and folks had to wait for the cops after calling 911, the average was 14 killed. Moral: concealed carry of arms saves lives.
3. When a deranged school shooter was confronted with deadly force wielded by an armed citizen, the shooter either surrendered or shot himself.

This then begs the question of why the mass killer either surrenders or kills himself.

The majority of these mass killers are video game addicts. For them, the killings they are doing is the acting out (for real) of a sick video game. The presence of someone with the capability to apply deadly force (also for real) shocks the shooter into reality and some meekly surrender.

The other option for the acting out “gamer” shooter is to reset the game. In the gaming scenario, the avatar of a player who’s cornered and without a way to escape can reset the game by committing suicide. When the shooter in the real world kills himself, he’s continuing the delusion learned in the game: that is, he’s forcing a “reset” of a no win situation. Either way, an armed citizen stops mass murder with the presence of a concealed firearm before the cops can react to the 911 call.

“Working their own vernacular against them, I therefore do not own any semi-automatic or “assault rifles” (spit)...”

Except the “personal defense weapons” they are seeking to buy are select fire” i.e. full auto switchable to semi auto.

The M-4 Carbine, the current standard for the US military, is not set up for sustained full auto fire. My understanding is 3 shot bursts. From this it appears Homeland Security is preparing not just to spray a lot of bullets at either smugglers on the high seas or ??? on US soil, but to in a rather odd way ... out gun the army. Swell.

“...ready to go...”

Hehehe, I bet that might mean you’ve cleared leather and are prepared to get to work???

I like it...;-)
