A Russian rocket carrying a US-made communications satellite has plunged into the Pacific Ocean shortly after its launch, Russian media report.

As important as space is for communications and scientific research, it makes no sense not to send the rockets up there ourselves. Should be a national security issue.
But, in obamaland, muzzie outreach is the priority.

Two years ago I had the pleasure of attended a seminar byTed Gordon who had worked on the Saturn 5 rocket.
He could not believe that we had gotten to the moon and then just stopped.
I totally agree with him.

Then we’ll wake up for awhile before returning into our national coma.
Of course, the fact that it only cost us about $25Million is inconsequential. What difference does it make??
Private companies use Russian and Chinese launches because they are MUCH cheaper.
I guess you get what you pay for.
AFAIK it was a Swiss company performing a launch. Their idea was about to blast from the ocean at equator to save on land facilities and rocket size (it takes much less energy to get into space from there). Rocket maker said it’s stage went off automatically after buster’s systems fond it was positioned wrongly to deliver payload properly.
