That’s why we have primaries!

if the Daily Caller keeps going with the Menendez story Geraldo may have a choice of two seats. Either that or the Democrats may have to bring back The Torch.

A moderate Republican is somewhat to the left of a RINO.

I'm not sure which is more laughable... Colin Powell claiming to be a "Republican", or Geraldo Rivera.

Fortunately for Geraldo, he can't ever be named "biggest joke in the Senate" as long as "Senator Al Franken" is still there.

Geraldo Rivera declares himself a 'moderate Republican' as he eyes U.S. Senate run

There is the first lie of his political career. He's off to a running start.

“The longtime media personality portrayed himself as a moderate Republican who is fiscally conservative but also supports gay marriage and Roe v. Wade.”

Not that I would EVER support this type of person, but can ANYONE name one of them, in the Senate for example?

In other words, the people that can’t get social issues right, rarely, if ever, get fiscal issues right.

Geraldo is a clown. I doubt even people in New Jersey will take him seriously.

“Geraldo Rivera declares himself a ‘moderate Republican’ as he eyes U.S. Senate run” Hey considering what the GOP has become he might actually be right sad to say.

"...as a moderate Republican, there is a point of view that is unrepresented in states like New Jersey. There can be a new vitalization of the Republican party."

Apparently Geraldo Rivera (aka Gerald Rivers), like so many in today's politics, is ignorant of relatively recent history. There have been quite a number of "moderate" RINOish Republicans who have ran for and even won public office in New Jersey. We could start with the current Gov. Christie, who many already forget, beat a solidly conservative GOP opponent in the primary four years ago, and recently seems to being cozying up to Zero. Before him there were Christie Todd Whitman and Tom Kean. And if you'd like to go back a little further, there was Sen. Clifford Case. In the House there were Millicent Fenwick and Peter Freulinghuysen and Dick Zimmer, just a few names that come to mind. So Rivera would hardly be a novelty as a "moderate" Republican in NJ, just a novelty as media personality entering elective politics as a "moderate" Republican.

Who knew?

I was aware that Rivera was calling himself a Republican occasionally on the air, although his views in general would have to be considered more in line with those of the 'Rats.

I've never liked Rivera with his history of changing his name to benefit from his half Puerto Rican ancestry.

Abortion lover.

Racist.

Racist. Yes, a racist.

Illegal alien criminal invading insurgent colonists supporter and lover.

Hater.

Traitor, gave away the position of our troops while in Iraq.

And I will add that the fiasco on FOX where he literally (not physically) attacked Michelle Malkin and that slimy worm had this to say:

Geraldo Rivera said that that crazy attention whore Malkin was “the most vile, hateful commentator I've ever met … It’s good she’s in D.C. and I’m in N.Y. I’d spit on her if I saw her.”

He is one of the most despicable lowlifes on this planet. Brave guy, would spit on a WOMAN!

And O'Reilly hosted a show with Rivera where he did NOT apologize, and O'Reilly smiled and said it's all OK now.

Part of his apology was "I never spit!"

Punk.
