Obama Claims to Aim at Skeet, but Some Wonder if He’s a Straight Shooter [SKEET PHOTO!]
NY TIMES ^ | 2/2/2013 | PETER BAKER

WASHINGTON — President Obama has taken on N.B.A. stars on the White House basketball court, golfed at the air base that houses Air Force One and even tried to polish his legendarily woeful bowling at the presidential lanes.

But now it turns out that he has picked up a new hobby: skeet shooting at Camp David.

At least that is the way he tells it. In an interview published last week, Mr. Obama said that he and his guests shot clay pigeons “all the time” at the retreat in the Maryland mountains, a revelation that surprised many and drew a fair bit of skepticism. And then on Saturday, the White House released a photo of Mr. Obama skeet shooting at Camp David in August.

The notion of the president taking aim at targets flung into the air captivated some in the political and social media worlds at a time when he is pushing Congress to enact sweeping restrictions on assault rifles and high-capacity magazines. Conservatives scoffed, comics mocked, a congresswoman challenged him to a skeet-shooting contest, a fake picture of an armed Mr. Obama circulated on the Internet, and the White House tried to make the whole matter go away.

“It was a surprise to a lot of people in the industry when we saw that and heard that,” said Michael Hampton Jr., the executive director of the National Skeet Shooting Association, whose 35,000-member rolls do not include the president. “But officially we have no idea whether he does participate or not. Only him or his people would know that.”

Mr. Obama is hardly the first politician to draw scorn for boasting of experience with guns...

Truly digital!

I like the extra fingers.

In the” original” he seems to be resting the gun on his

missing thumb, is that the normal position?

With a good spot weld and proper wing shooting your cheek will necessarily be on the stoc or you will shoot high. And it will bust up your cheek after a good shooting day in the field. Heck I’ve had good dove weekends that have produce bruised cheeks. That is what is so telling about the cheek part of the photo.... No movement.

This is of course above and beyond the smoke and vents. To me it looks like he was holding the gun but was not firing it. The geniuses in DC used the smoke to get the firing part to “look” real

I used to shoot doves on a familys farm. The were big quail hunters and shot skeet regularly. Dad and two sons used to go to Mexico every year to shoot whitewings. 4 guns apiece, a loader and a boy to fetch the birds. When they got back their whole right side looked like someone beat them with a baseball bat.

Makes me want to take off and go right now!

1. No visible rearward movement of the gun (note ports near muzzle aren’t smeared).

2. No visible effect of recoil (his cheek and shoulder aren’t displaced.

3. Unusual smoke cloud for smokeless powder. Here’s a video of a skeet competition. You can’t even SEE any smoke (start after 1:30 or so). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgZqhAB2omE

4. It’s HARD to capture the moment at the perfect time when smoke is visible.

5. The vertical port smoke comes from behind the gun, with no smoke coming from the visible perforations on the left side.

6. The original of the vertical spoke plume appears about an inch wide, while the ports appear to extend about two inches along the barrel.

7. The port plume appears to originate from a single aperture source, not an elongated array of perforations.

8. Not carrying ammo like any skeet shooter.

Much of this is speculation, but would be easy to confirm by demonstration, trying to replicate the photo.

Maybe it isn't anything, but the picture's properties say it was created today, not Aug 2012.

A true skeet range has a hi house and a lo house. You alternate shooting the lo and hi house and then you shoot doubles, lo/hi and progress around the different stations winding up in between the two houses where you shoot a single from each house that fly right at you.

Also you will notice a protrusion sticking out of the top barrell that is missing on the bottom. This is a thumb choke and would be of the skeet bore if he was shooting skeet. Normally, there should be a matching protrusion on the bottom barrell with the same bore, skeet choke bore.

So, more than likely the liar in chief is not truely shooting Skeet with alternating LO/HI house doubles but shooting girly man singles for a photo op or just shooting at a “pattern” paper or the ground.

Someone probably adjusted the date on the camera to June of last year, screwed in one skeet choke and a powder load, showed the loser where the trigger was and handed him a pair of Raybans and ear muffs for his Dumbos ears.

Whatever they did you can bet is was a frickin’ lie because all this SOB does is spend money and lie....

I appreciate the reply. As a photographer, I’ve shot dozens of images of people taking part in activities in order to capture the perfect image that representst that activity. If I were shooting a picture of someone shooting skeet, I would be sure to publish the image that best represents the sport, and it would not be the odd horizontal rifle shot.

Does it not appear that he has five fingers on the barrell.

Actually it appears that there are six fingers on the barrell and probably two thumbs on the other side.

This proves that Obama is not only an illegal alien, but a space alien to boot.
