OK, Mr. Seidman, how about you take your part of the country abd shred the Constitution and we'll take our part?
Why do liberals think they don't have to go along with laws they don't like, but the rest of us have to abide by the laws liberals make, "because it's the law!", they like to scream at us?
And I still think the best way to go about this is to make liberals think that separating into two nations, one for the socialist/communist liberals and one for the rest of us, is their idea.
Looks like history repeats itself because most will not recognize what is really going on or are distracted.
Somebody sent me this link in an email recently. After watching it, it’s clear we’ve been on this path for a long time. And it’s very disturbing.

"The third point that defined this circle showed up on CBS Sunday Morning last week when contributor Louis Michael Seidman opened up his commentary with, “I’ve got a simple idea; Let’s give up on the Constitution.” Seidman openly frets about the Second Amendment getting in the way of modern debate on the citizens' right to own a gun. “This is our country. We live in it. And we have a right to the kind of country we want. We would not allow the French or the United Nations to rule us. And neither should we allow people who died over two centuries ago and knew nothing of our country as it exists today. If we are to take back our own country, we have to start making decisions for ourselves, and stop deferring to an ancient and outdated document.

Oh, we know about the long line of so-called "progressives" like Mrs. Clinton and Professor Seidman. They are part of the movement which began in the late 1800's and which has worked, like termites, to undermine and challenge the Constitution's "chains" (Jefferson) on the coercive power of elected officials in government.
"What difference does it make"? ". . . let's give up on the Constitution"?
These, as well as declarations of a President whose stated belief is that the Constitution is "flawed" and "a document of negative liberties," along with the professors of the "living constitution" school who have propagandized generations of college students--all display their great ignorance of the history of civilization, the writings of the great thinkers across the centuries, and the unique idea embodied in America's Declaration of Independence and structured into a "People's" document to govern their government officials.
So-called "progressives" remind us of a character once described by Poet Robert Frost, but will Americans of 2012 recognize him in the statements of Clinton, Seidman, and Obama?
Now would be a good time for conservatives to read Dr. Russell Kirk's "The Conservative Mind, which can be read online, by the way.
In Kirk's last chapter he reviews the works of poets and writers, quoting lines which now seem to bear a strikinig resemblance to the players on the stage in American politics today.
For instance, in Robert Frost's "A Case for Jefferson," Frost writes of the character Harrison:
"Harrison loves my country too
But wants it all made over new.
. . . .
He dotes on Saturday pork and beans.
But his mind is hardly out of his teens.
With him the love of country means
Blowing it all to smithereens
And having it made over new."
The pseudointellectuals and self-described "progressives" who occupy the White House, the cabinet, the media, and much of Congress fancy themselves "intellectuals."
By their words and actions, however, they display a provinciality reminiscent of that Dr. Kirk recalls from an essay by T.S. Eliot on Virgil:
"In our time, when men seem more than ever to confuse wisdom with knowledge and knowledge with information and to try to solve the problems of life in terms of engineering, there is coming into existence a new kind of provincialism which perhaps deserves a new name. It is a provincialism not of space but of time--one for which history is merely a chronicle of human devices which have served their turn and have been scrapped, one for which the world is the property solely of the living, a property in which the dead hold no share."(Bold added for emphasis)
In today's case, the "provinciality" seems to be limited to the "progressives'" dabbling in and discussing the ideas of Mao, Marx, and other theoreticians and believing they can impose those ideas on a free people.
America's written Constitution deserves protectors whose minds are out of "their teens" in terms of their understanding of civilization's long struggle for liberty.
It certainly deserves protectors who do not consider it a "flawed" document because it does not permit the government it structures to run rough shod over the rights of its "KEEPERS, the People" (Justice Story).
Blasting it "all to smithereens" seems to be the goal of the current Administration and so-called "progressives" who control the Executive and one-half of the Legislative branch of government.
The Founders' Constitution's strict limits on coercive power by elected representatives are being ignored and disavowed; the free enterprise system which allowed individual citizens to achieve and excel in their chosen pursuits is being co-opted by elected and unelected bureaucrats; and the rights of conscience, speech, and religion are being trampled as we post here.
"The People" should be debating great ideas such as how to preserve liberty, or, in economic matters, the wisdom of the great moral philosopher, Adam Smith's "Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations." Instead, they are being hoodwinked by a president who believes they are ignorant or foolish enough to believe that deficit spending, debt, and government control will lead to prosperity.
When, in 1776, our ancestors felt the heavy hand of the British government "taking" their earnings, regulating their lives, interfering with their beliefs, and asserting coercive control over their actions, they did not waste their time on such trivia.
They wrote great treatises such as "Thoughts on Government" and "Common Sense." They educated their young on the merits of liberty, as opposed to slavery to government, and they did the groundwork which allowed for a written Constitution for self-government to be ratified in the states only eleven years later.
America is about to be bankrupt, both financially and philosophically, and those who have benefited from the Founders' ideas, who call themselves "conservators" (conservatives) of those ideas, should come together to place those ideas before millions of young people on whether they desire liberty or slavery. Women, youth, men, so-called "seniors"--all need to have the choice presented clearly that this period in our history pits the ideas of Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and America's other Founders against the ideas of Marx, Lenin, and Keynes.
There are always "useful idiots." That's what every oppressive regime has relied upon. A "useful idiot" with a big megaphone is more dangerous to liberty than millions of ordinary ones, because of the ability to lull more people into a sense of complacency.
America, awaken! This decades-long battle for your liberty has been engaged. But, for decades, you have allowed the ideas of your liberty to be censored from your nation's textbooks and public discourse.
Our best weapon is contained in our Declaration of Independence and the Constitution which leaves all the power in "the People's" hands. Read them, amplify upon their principles and ideas by accessing the Founders' writings and speeches.
For a quick review of those principles and the nation's first 50 years under its Constitution, consult John Quincy Adams' "Jubilee" Address here, or a recent reprint of a 1987 Bicentennial collection of the Founders' principles, here.
James Madison stated: "Although all men are born free, slavery has been the general lot of the human race. Ignorant—they have been cheated; asleep—they have been surprised; divided—the yoke has been forced upon them. But what is the lesson? ... the people ought to be enlightened, to be awakened, to be united, that after establishing a government, they should watch over it ... It is universally admitted that a well-instructed people alone can be permanently free."
I watched a two part documentary on the rise of Hitler on youtube yesterday as well. It was composed of colorized footage and went into detail on Hitler’s political rise. Two things struck me. The narrator said “Hitler was causing civil unrest and yet at the same time claimed to be the only person capable of stopping it”. The other was Joseph Goebbels’ central role in gumming-up the legislative process, making it appear to the masses that the system was “broken”... just like Harry Reid and others. The parallels between the rise of naziism and today are alarming. And you are right, the “rich” are the new jews. Same rhetoric, different day. Btw, I mentioned this to a liberal aquaintance who thinks bambi is some sort of black Jesus Christ, and he got extremely defensive. So that’s evidently the button to push.
Phil? Who in the hell told you THAT? Who told you that your career would go down the drain unless you made this self-abasing statement in public?
Julius Caesar used these same tactics and strategies. Marc Antony, then a young man, and Marcus Caelius, of the same age, were his leaders of the street goons (many of whom were professional killers, ex-soldiers and ex-gladiators, who were armed under their togas), his equivalent of Ernst Roehm and Baldur von Schirach, leaders of the SA and the Hitler Youth.
Caesar used the street mob to disrupt the Comitia (the popular assembly), turn the funeral of one of his thugpunks (killed by bodyguards of a senator he went after) into an act of public arson -- they placed his cremation bier right next to the Senate-house and burned it down -- crowded menacingly around magistrates trying to adjudicate charges against Caesarian agitators and pols, and performed many other acts of "modulated violence", including the humiliation and mobbing of a consul, Caesar's colleague, who opposed certain laws Caesar favored and used his constitutional power -- or tried to -- to negate Caesar's demagoguery.
Then he waged war on the whole Republic and defeated its armies; and his successors, Antony and Octavian, murdered his opposition wholesale, in a vast bloodbath that removed most of the people who knew how to "operate" a public office .... and Cicero was one of the first they murdered, for his speeches against Antony.
Cicero's letters are no doubt the useful source of many of the historians who have traced Caesar's rise from self-consequent prima donna stripling boy to dictator and executioner.
To be quite blunt, IMHO, it is time to ban liberals and have them around where they can be an example of stupidity and not be in a position of authority.
I can sympathize with Phil Mickelson who gets chewed out for not wanting to work hard anymore when he cannot benefit from the fruits of his labor. Seems like the liberals want all of us to work hard, not smart and not be allowed any down time nor be allowed to benefit from our work. Like President Bush was trashed talked when he left Washington but yet Obama gets a free pass on his travel.
When I worked for a liberal boss at Lockheed Martin, when we did out timecards, we h ad the option on out OT whether to take it as pay or comp time. He always got really PO’d at me when I checked the box for Comp Time. Main reason was the high taxes that were charged for the time. I got called and got chewed out for picking comp time instead of pay and was asked why. I mentioned about not wanting to pay the taxes and time off is more important. My manager went into a tirade how paying higher taxes is a duty that we owe to society and all of that gobbledygook. I was then told not to ever check that box again ! I told him it was none of his business and remarked I will be discussing the matter with HR. Another item is we got like 7 floating holidays which were use or lose. He didn’t like me using them as another week of vacation and insisted that they get used here and there like one or two days at a time.
I apologize for posting this response of mine in another discussion,but I believe it is applicable to both, and maybe more dicsussions that I have yet to come across...
This is actually key to my analysis on the overall problem...
But it is not based upon the social/cultural disposition on issues of violence in this country...
Put simply, how can a nation, based upon principles of virtue, continue to reap the benefits of blessings and grace from God, maintain its leadership position in all things if it has lost its virtue to keep them???
I’m not talking about a real bible thumping religious virtue, but one, more based upon a BASIC understanding and application by its citizens (much less those we elect to represent us) of knowing and applying the reasoning behind what we as a people know to be the difference between right and wrong...
Political and social efforts, by some in this country, and around the world, are doing what they can to muddy the waters of such a basic priciple for living a good life, and that the “What’s in it for me?” crowd has taken over many aspects of our daily lives...
It may seem like I am promoting an over-simplistic approach to a huge problem, but then again, when you get right down to it, it is the simplest things that make an impact on such a publically perceived problem...
The current adminstration, and our elected caste of characters at all levels of government are only symptomatic of OUR lost virtue, or serious lack of it these days, and until WE get our act together and start putting folks [who understand the basic principles of virtue] into these positions, nothing will change...
But it will get worse, and at that point when we finally realize this course is not working out for this country, will we have the political, social, and most important, the virtue [virtuous courage] to correct the bleeding out of this country...
How can we expect God to bless this country, and the world if we do not have the correct focus and decision making, if we are all distracted by evil, and its dis-informational nature of its existance amoung us???
Just my opinion...And I will continue to espouse this idea until I am found to be entirely wrong, at which point I may not be a very nice person...;-)
