Nate Silver, the New York Times' stats blogger who gained national acclaim for his political forecasts, has made a prediction for this year's Super Bowl matchup: Patriots vs. Seahawks.
Silver appeared on ESPN's First Take to explain how he arrived at his prediction. Most of the segment was devoted to the choice of Seattle as the NFC representative.

Nate, you’re brilliant on the political front. Sports... not so much.
He’s not brilliant on the political front, either. He got all his “polling” data from David Axelrod. None of it was his own work.
“I’d say that New England and Denver are the two best teams,” Silver added. “I think if you have a Denver-New England AFC Championship game, it’ll be one of those cases where it really is the de facto Super Bowl.”

And then both New England and Denver go on in the post season to be defeated by the Ravens.
I’d say that Nate Silver (pronosticator of pronosticators) is a success at prediction in a fashion similar to the way that the rapidly decaying Boston Globe and New York Times are at being a success in the newspaper business.
The difference here is that the rat party could not come up with any ‘missing’ ballot boxes.
