WASHINGTON Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, is assembling a mental list of the many pros and cons that come with a 2014 Senate bid.
It's a tempting opportunity.
Just consider: Sen. Tom Harkin's decision not to run for re-election means Iowa will have its first open Senate race in 40 years.
King first must consider whether he can compete in a statewide race.
His hard-line, take-no-prisoners conservative style on hot-button issues such as immigration made him a favorite of cable television programs and raised his national profile.

I’ve heard him as an occasional guest on Howie Carr’s radio talk show out of Boston. He’s a good conservative. He’s got a better shot running in 2014 because it is a mid-term election—if he runs, and if he can beat some RINO like Latham in the primary.
The only problem Steve will have is the LIBERAL POS Iowa “Cities”: Des Moines, Waterloo, Iowa City, Ceder Rapids, Ceder Falls. He will CARRY all of W/ Iowa and some of N/E Iowa.
I grew up in Notheast Iowa.
I grew up in C/ Iowa(Boone County, Next to LIBERAL Storey County(Ames/Iowa State Univ) and UBER-Liberal Polk County(Des Moines)!
I attended college at Iowa State, grew up in Waterloo/Readlyn.
W/out Iowa State ya know what Ames would be...BOONE!
lol!
I served on the JFK, but spent most of my time on the USS Dace (SSN-607).

He’s my guy. Only candidate I’ve donated to in the past few years. I’d so LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to have him as my senator instead of that POS Harkin!
