The article tells us that: Three-fourths of Hispanic voters are U.S.-born. Of households headed by U.S.-born Hispanics that have children, 50 percent are headed by unmarried women, compared with 29 percent of U.S.-born whites

How is that socially conservative? If one were socially conservative, I would expect that person NOT to have a child out of wedlock or have sex outside of marriage.

You're right, there's nothing socially conservative about teenage girls with a string of babies, each with a different last name. Seems to be increasingly the norm in border towns.

Unfortunately, many mistake nominal Christianity and Church-going for morality, fertility for motherhood, and machismo for fatherhood. Therein lies the "conservative Hispanic" myth.
