This is the crux of it.

Who is to say who is electable?

The empirical method is in place — the one who won the primary election is electable. They were elected the nominee.

That is the first pass.

These complaints are nonsense and not logical. To the degree they have logic they are arguing for a non-democratic process wherein candidates are appointed.
