Well, that’s pretty much possible whether or not the government is involved. It’s not like government wealth redistribution programs aren’t rife with fraud and waste. They are. In (voluntary) charity situations, you might very well be scammed, but it’s your choice. You get to decide. Isn’t that grand? I think so. I also think you can sue for fraud if the charity doesn’t turn out to be legit. You probably won’t get your money back, but the chances of getting your money back from government wealth redistributions is nil.
