Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul will give the Tea Party response to President Obama’s State of the Union address next week. The first-term senator will give the response while Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, another Tea Party favorite, gives the official Republican response Tuesday, according to The Los Angeles Times.

Rand Paul is giving many great speeches but I wonder will he fall into his father’s ignorant blather?
I like Rubio, he makes cogent and reasoned arguments, even though I may not agree with everything.

Actually, Rand Paul’s speech could be the Republican response, if the Republicans had any gonads.
If purists had voted against Obama in both elections, we wouldn’t be where we are now. Our once great country is on the downhill slide and it could have been slowed. And hopefully a new generation could have been schooled in the American Dream. Now it will take decades to just get back to the place we were before Obama started his destruction. If we even get another chance. Obama has proclaimed that Pelosi will again be Speaker after the 2014 election. How is he going to cheat this time so he can complete the destruction of our country?
People are attracted to people with principles that actually stand for something. Even if they don’t always agree with the person in question, most will respect that person for being consistent in their values and positions.
That is something that is almost impossible in the squishy middle. See Romney and McCain as perfect examples.
In a way, I'm amused. Marco probably thought HE was speaking for the Tea Party.

I agree that McCain and Romney were not perfect, not even close. But they sure as **** would have been a boatload better than we have had for 4 years and what we will have to endure for the next 4! I will not let the better (McCain and Romney) be the enemy of the best (and who knows who that would have been)! Now we have the worst, which could have been prevented.
He's smarter and braver than anyone the Republicans would put out there. He said in 5 minutes what the Republicans should have been saying for decades.
The GOP isn’t losing because the other side is cheating. To blame the majority of the losses on cheating is to become complacent to the current issues in the GOP. Nothing in the GOP will ever improve by pinning all the blame on the other side and failing to acknowledge the glaring issues that are destroying the GOP.
They are losing because they have no leadership, no principles, and no willingness to support what is right. There only motivation is buy off enough voting blocs to secure their positions for another term. We already have one party with that mantra. Conservatives and those who typically identify as GOP voters aren’t into that.
They will continue to lose until that is addressed.

Not meaning to flame, but if you want middle of the road, Rubio is your man. He’s not mine. I’ve had it with liberal Republicans pandering to certain groups of people for votes.

Rand Paul is no sellout. Rubio is not going to be a Latino magnet that RINOS are hoping for. Illegal aliens are now known as Undocumented Democrats.

I wonder if the MSM will cover it? I rather think they will as it could be portrayed as a completely new political party that will split the Republican base and compete with the Republican party in the future. The Dems and the MSM are already trying to split the base. They will love it.
The Republican party rose out of a competition between the radical wing of the Whig party which was vehemently anti-slavery and the regular Whigs who weren’t that hot on the issue. I suppose you’d call them moderates and the WhigE wing.
Eventually the radicals changed enough minds that the Republican Party was born, grew dominant, and the Whig party died within the span of a decade.
Of course, it led to a civil war as the views of the new radical Republican party were completely uncompromising when contrasted with the old Democratic Party.
We certainly may be at a tipping point today. It’s entirely possible that a third party, the Tea Party for want of a better name, could form, crippling the extant Republican party, and resulting in election defeats until a consensus in public opinion is reached.
You can’t move forward until both wings come back together. Third parties come and go. Only once has a third party become dominant and destroyed the old party. It remains to be seen how much damage the Dems can do to the country while we fight among ourselves.
