A mother and daughter newspaper delivery team who were mistakenly shot by Los Angeles police hunting for a fugitive former cop will get a new pickup truck courtesy of the department.
LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith says the department's Chief Charlie Beck met with the women in their Torrance home Saturday to apologize and tell them he had arranged for someone to donate a new pickup truck.
The truck will be donated early this week, Smith said...

Not a word about the police officers who shot them and what's happening there.

I would rather have the badges of the trigger happy cowboys in my hand than the keys to a new truck. In fact, driving around in a bullet ridden truck with a big sign "Thank, LAPD" would be better than burying the issue.

Aren’t these the same cops who think it’s too dangerous for Americans to own guns? It looks like the civilians need to hold a police gun buyback to get these dangerous weapons out of the hands of the police.

You're scarred for life after you come within a whisker of losing your life and you they want to give you a new
TRUCK???
You've go to be kidding me. What freaking idiot would think that would atone for that stupid trigger-happy mistake?
And on top of that, what does this mean? ...he arranged for someone to donate a new pickup truck. The PD isn't paying for it? He shook someone down to "donate" a new truck?
I really feel for those poor women and the unimaginable terror they went through. I hope they take the PD to the cleaners and heads roll.

I’m curious how the folks in Torrance feel about the LAPD running loose in their city. Haven’t heard anything about that. You’d think the Torrance Police Department would be displeased with this.

What do I need to do to get a new truck? Who’s accepting the specs?

According to today’s LA Times, there were “at least seven” cops there when they lit up that pickup truck.
Seven cops, and no one thought to approach for ID, or literally light up the truck with a spotlight to see what color it really was, etc.
The entire LAPD should be under investigation now, from the top on down.

Don’t know what is more incompetent. Not making any attempt to identify the truck, or throwing 30+ rounds at it and not killing anyone. These cops should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Maybe they’re giving them one that’s Armored Plated, just in case they run into another couple of LA’s Finest.

That’s my guess too. If their lawyer has two ounces of brains to rub together he’ll tell the LAPD what they can do with their proposed settlement...ah, generous gift.

Seven cops, 47 bullets (6-7 shots apiece), and they only grazed the women and never hit their targets (thank the Creator!). What is with the panic-shooting of late? This is not a disciplined police force.
To: Slings and Arrows
I’m guessing there was standing room only when the Chief of Clowns showed up, the women’s lawyers taking up most of the space, ain’t no way they’re not lawyered up with all the publicity.

I would contact Colt or S&W for their expert advice, and perhaps Glock as well depending upon the usage.

On a more somber note, that's what the fund to compensate all the 9/11 victim families was about.
