Governance by presidential directive is on the move, no Congress required, in Obama’s 2nd term

This is what “Forward” looks like. Fast forward, even.

President Barack Obama’s campaign slogan is springing to life in a surge of executive directives and agency rule-making that touch many of the affairs of government. They are shaping the cost and quality of health plans, the contents of the school cafeteria, the front lines of future combat, the price of coal. They are the leading edge of Obama’s ambition to take on climate change in ways that may be unachievable in legislation.

Altogether, it’s a kinetic switch from what could have been the watchword of the Obama administration in the closing, politically hypersensitive months of his first term: pause.

Whatever the merits of any particular commandment from the president or his agencies, the perception of a government expanding its reach and hitting business with job-killing mandates was sure to set off fireworks before November.

Since Obama’s re-election, regulations giving force and detail to his health care law have gushed out by the hundreds of pages. To some extent this was inevitable: The law is far-reaching and its most consequential deadlines are fast approaching.

The rules are much more than fine print, however, and they would have thickened the storm over the health care overhaul if placed on the radar in last year’s presidential campaign. That, after all, was the season when some Republicans put the over-the-top label “death panel” on a board that could force cuts to service providers if Medicare spending ballooned.

The new health law rules provide leeway for insurers to charge smokers thousands of dollars more for coverage. They impose a $63 per-head fee on insurance plans — a charge that probably will be passed on to policyholders

Morning Toby,
Our vaunted Congress has all either been neutered or never had a set to begin with.
Seems boehner is the example and not a one has the nads to stand up to the magic negro even when he is wrong as hell.

Do you think Obama would “allow” a SOTH that would stand up to him to be appointed. Of course not. It would be very interesting to see what would have happened if Newt Gingrich were still SOTH.

Since they’re in the business of charging extra for lifestyle risks, when are they going to charge higher premiums to sodomites for behaviors which bring all kinds of potentially fatal results?

Just remember this quote from a marxist sociopath who changes his rhetoric in the way a chameleon changes colors:

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, “the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

Smokers first, then gun owners, then owners of gas guzzling cars...

And btw, Obama did raise the tax on cigarettes a while back.

Regulations are not laws. Tell the regime to sit on a spike.

Regulations are not laws. Tell the regime to sit on a spike.

Generally that would be true. BUT I believe the way Obamacare was written Sect Supersillious is actually writing "LAW" from her cabinet position, since Congress passed that authority to her. IS that legal? Who has the standing to sue?

Now imagine how this story would have been written if it was George W. Bush issuing such “commandments.”

It was a little surprising, though, to see the Post admit that Obama’s end-runs around “the legislative process” were held back until after the election. Any thinking person knows it — and knew it at the time; I’m just surprised the Post claims to recognize it. Without praising him for his cleverness.

Obamacare?

Constitutional? No

Can it be successfully implemented? Unknown

Will it work? Not possible

But does it make any difference? It was intended to fail from the beginning. It is designed to implode the medical and financial system in the US. That is the intended outcome.

I think Newt would at least make obammy to look a fool occationally instead of obammy ALWAYS making boehner look the fool he is.
