Dorner morphing into an anti-hero?
Hotair ^

I have, at times, been accused of being somewhat naive when it comes to modern culture, both by family members and readers alike. Perhaps you’re all on to something there, because I certainly never saw this coming. As the search continues for alleged cop killer Christopher Dorner, there is an emerging theme – at least on the West Coast – that perhaps Dorner is some sort of Robin Hood, standing up for the little guy and taking it to the corrupt LA police force.

"Support Growing For Former L.A. Officer Accused Of Killing Spree

Dorner lost his job with the Los Angeles Police Department in 2008. His manifesto vows revenge for that; and, surprisingly, thousands of people actually support him.

It’s hard to believe but there are those out there who sympathize with the man targeting police officers.

One Facebook page is proclaiming Dorner for president. “We propose electing a man who could no longer sit idly by and watch as malicious tyrants abuse the innocent.”

The description on “We Are All Chris Dorner” chillingly says, “Yes, this is war.”

You’re right and thats part, maybe most of the reason for the mixed up sentiment we’re seeing.

—Ask yourself, would the cops spare the gun owners’ children?—

Well, at least Dorner makes certain of his targets before opening fire. That is better than the effin’ LAPD.

Cops have killed innocent people and have gotten away with it. Think what happen to a CCW in Las Vegas recently. A store clerk spots a gun on a CCW customer and calls cop that there is an armed man in the store and embellishes the report that the armed man was acting erracticly and angrily. Cops wait at exit of store as the CCW holder walks out. One cop yells freeze, the other yells hands up and another tells him to get down on the ground. The CCW holder complies with one command the other two cops open fire because he failed to follow their instructions. Result CCW holder, a West Point grad with clean record is dead. Video of shooting from store is gone and erased after the Las Vegas police got hold of it. Three officers did not follow department SOP, an innocent man is dead, the store clerk is off the hook for making an exaggerated police call. There are numerous incidents like this and victims’ families have little or no recourse to stop the cover ups. Once war is declared on the police, their families will be legitimate targets. How about SWAT teams attacking wrong homes where innocent home owners are terrorized. Look mistakes do happen, and cops need to own up and not cover up. After too many cover ups, public support and sympathy will drop. Institutions reap what they sow.

non-sequitor. Thre is ultimately only one action that citizens can take against the government when the civilized options have failed and an unconstitutional tyranny is running the country.. You can't fine them. You can't jail them. What's left?

“When the government goes after your gun the only way to fight back is to support a candidate, vote, and go to court. Any more violent route makes you a liberal, not a conservative.”

Hmmmm...

Guess that means that the patriots at Concord and Lexington were all liberals?

“Guess that means that the patriots at Concord and Lexington were all liberals?”

Technically correct. The original definition of liberal was somebody who believed that people should rule themselves; not be ruled by kings. The definition has been corrupted by liberals as they have corrupted the language everywhere, creating new definitions and new uses. Gay meant fun whereas homosexual sounded like a disease. Hence they substituted one for the other. The liberals of Concord and Lexington where what we today would call conservatives.

Conservatives believe in and support the rule of law. The rule of law was intended to remove justice from the caprices of one man and make it a clearly written down set of codes that protected (and punished) all equally. Modern day liberalism (socialism) is the opposite of older liberalism. It is the rule of an easily transmutable theology. Rule by theology is whatever the most powerful local imam with an army of thugs says it is. I would stay out of California and Saudi Arabia for the same reason.

This leaves us with the problem of what to do when the local theologian tramples your rights. The English king was not elected. The patriots at Concord and Lexington had no choice but violence. Today’s leaders are elected. We have all agreed to a social compact where we live within a larger system that serves (we hope) the public’s need. We do have the ability to change that system with the tools and levers available. If we resort to violence instead, how are we any better than the socialists?

The primary goal of a revolution is to capture the good graces of the public at large. If conservatives run around blowing people up how will you capture that which will allow you to eventually win? Educating the low information voter should be the goal. I think the last three Republican presidential candidates, for example, did little to differentiate themselves from the opposition. Given the views of those candidates, I’m not sure there was a difference. Harry Truman said, “I may not win running as a Democrat, but I surely won’t win running as a Republican.” I think that Dole, McCain and Romney ran as Socialist Lite. The conservatives stayed away to “punish” the Republican party. Perhaps the answer is not revolution, but a revised Republican party.

In any case, I’ve read plenty about revolutions and social unrest. Millions of people in otherwise rich areas starve to death or die of easily treated diseases. Once you start an insurrection it gains a life of its own. You can control the first shot, but not all suffering that comes next.

I’ve been working for candidates since 2008. I wish I’d started sooner.

“So gun owners would kill the cops children if they could?”

If the cops on the raid were not sure they wouldn’t come home to a smoking hole and bodies, maybe they would not go after gun owners with vigour. Maybe they’d stay home and play with their kids instead.

So if obama ordered the confiscation of guns, the toddler children of cops are fair game? Wow.

Everyone will have to make their own choices.

But I can guarantee you the toddler children of 'holdout' gunowners will be the last thing Obama considers at 4 AM when the flash-bangs go off.

So if he says the police are corrupt what him makes any different when he kills family members and police officers he deems are corrupt is he not corrupt and evil himself?
He is not a hero he is a scum bag killer. He already did kill a child of a cop.

Leftists believe ALL whites living today are just as guilty of slavery as the actual slave owners in the past. So it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if they believe the children of the cops are guilty for what their fathers do and deserve to be killed by Dorner.

McVey’s bombing ended the militia movement, which was conservative.

That leaves out the Phillipine connection (through Nichols' wife), and likely Muslim involvement. I don't think McVeigh was conservative by any stretch, but the press and the Clinton Administration shut down the hunt for "Middle Eastern Looking" men (John Does 1 and 2) apologized to CAIR the same morning, and focused the wrath of a shocked country on those nasty "right-wing extremists", much like today's "bitter clingers".

It was the worst possible timing for conservatives who were awaiting the Waco hearings in Congress, and who had a shot at repealing the Assault Weapons Ban.

McVeigh didn't end the Militia movement, the SPLC, the media, and other fellow travelers of the Clintons did, and it took the heat off the feds for the Waco Massacre.

By their fruits shall ye know them.

You hit upon what I was thinking. It might be in Dorner’s calculus that once he gives the cover of suspicion, gangsta’s and other cop killers will step up and do his dirty work.

no... although i do wish he would just focus on those who were directly involved in his experience... the LAPD doesn't show regard or sympathy toward those whose lives they mess with... this is the result... consequence... the reaping...

The appeals process went on into 2011, then his dishonorable Naval Reserve discharge was just last week.

Naval Reserve. I think he got a marksman medal for rifle and an expert for pistol and had some training in underwater demolitions. To hear the media tell it, they put him across as a Rambo, Green Beret, one man, unstoppable wreaking machine.

Gen.blather has a head on his shoulders. The OKC bombing did end the Militia movement. But there is evidence presented in the book: “The Oklahoma City Bombing and the Politics of Terror” that the FBI had penetrated McVeigh’s training ground at the Elohim City compound and may have ran or allowed that operation precisely to blunt the Militia movement.

Dorner presents conflicts for the left- he’s black, has a righteous cause that is dependent upon gun violence, is living the fantasy of many ghetto dwellers and their sympathesizers, etc. Being schizophrenic, the left will have little problem with these logical confllicts of principle and are now beginning to use their “hero” in ramping up the hysteria over gun ownership.

The problem with leftism vs. the PD has its roots in the fact that the police were traditionally used against labor and leftist organizers in sub-riot situations, where their use was not mandated by law. Beat cops, as a generally conservative demographic, were used to bash the heads of radical leftists, particularly anarchists going back to the days of King George. As a former punk rocker, I can vouch for the fact that cops harassed punk anarchists chronically and persistently in the 70’s. They made their bed, they can sleep in it.

Remember that the current white liberal mantra: “Only Whites can be racists; people of color are oppressed.”

So, we have a black community that's been raised to hate whites as oppressors and wrap themselves in an aura of victimhood coupled with an entitlement ethic. The LA black community hates whites, Latinos, and Asians. They probably revere Dorner as a kind of black crusading avenger to inflict street justice on their “oppressors”. This is sick. If this country were ever to experience a CW2, I wouldn't give you odds on black ethnic survival. Who in their right mind would a population amounting to 12-13% of the populace want to go to war with the other 87-88%? Odds are not on your side and you are readily identifiable.
