I broke my wrist and knee while on active duty, impairment ratings were part of the discharge process. In fact, they offered me an appeal to increase the rating as part of my discharge and appeared surprised that I didn’t persue it.
What ire? The military is no more or less than a component of the society that has produced it. Our society is not the same as it was 30 years ago and neither is our military. I do not want my children to join the military and I no longer trust the military on the whole. But I'm not angry at them.
Surely he must realize that the killing of bin laden was less about him dying as it was about re-election.
You make some very good points. I would also add, there are MANY service men and women who have served their country well, but for many other reasons choose to leave before receiving full retirement. We all understand that, and most of us made that decision on our own free will. This almost reads like some kind of Democratic talking point for government expansion of health and retirement care.
Maybe he ought to “come out of the closet” and run for political office. Seriously.
Remember “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance” ??
“Liberty Valence” is a great movie with an incredible cast—Jimmy Stewart, Lee Marvin, The Duke (John Wayne). It’s also a wonderful love story.
Was he thrown out of the Navy, or just didn’t re-enlist? I need more information before I believe anything.
I would agree.
His whole story, is not on record.
