Random thoughts on the passing scene:
I can't get excited by the question of whether Senator Robert Menendez had sex with a prostitute in Central America. It is her word against his and when it comes to a prostitute's word against a politician's word, that is too close to call.
If an American citizen went off to join Hitler's army during World War II, would there have been any question that this alone would make it legal to kill him? Why then is there an uproar about killing an American citizen who has joined terrorist organizations that are at war against the United States today?
Of all the things said during the gun control controversy, one of the most disquieting has been the emphasis on "mental health." If that ends up letting the guesses of shrinks put more murderers back on the street, the public can be in even greater danger after such a "reform."
However emotionally similar envy and resentment may seem, their consequences are often very different. Envy may spur some people to efforts to lift themselves up, while resentment is more likely to spur efforts to tear others down.
New York's Mayor Bloomberg wants to restrict the use of pain-killers in hospitals. Is there any subject on which this man does not consider himself an expert? There are, after all, doctors treating individual patients who currently decide how much pain-killer to use.
One of the talking points in favor of confirming Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense is that he was a wounded combat veteran. How does that qualify anyone to run the whole military establishment? Benedict Arnold was a wounded combat veteran!
In the modern welfare state, a vote becomes a license to take what others create and these others include generations yet unborn.

Thomas Sowell: Mark Twain and Will Rogers all rolled into one.........
LOL~Too funny!
While I usually agree with Dr. Sowell, what happens when someone (executive order) declares the NRA, the Tea Party, or Free Republic a terrorist organization?
Yes it is and it’s so funny because it’s true. :-)
I can't speak for Sowell, but following his logic I would think the President issuing such an executive order would be exposing himself as a domestic enemy, thus becoming a legitimate target of a drone attack.
The uproar probably has something to do with the Fifth Amendment.
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
Rather than giving Obama attaboys for attacking traitors to this country (who admittedly had it coming) we ought to be discussing his terms of impeachment. Instead, we're allowing him to set precedents for actions he can use later against us after he's confiscated all our guns.
Really, this is a no-brainer. You don't grant unilateral authority for the murder of American citizens to the guy who wants to strip you of the right to defend yourself. He's wandered into impeachment territory and conservatives, of all people, are supporting him.
Sadly, perception is everything when it comes to such things.
I have little doubt that, were it to come down to that, the media would do its best to portray us as the “domestic enemies” and paint us in the foulest, anti-American terms possible.
It already does.
I believe you put that well and I also believe even Obama as loose as he’s been with existing law knows that.
Laughing out loud at work. I will say this, though - at least a prostitute goes away.
I do have to respectfully disagree on the analogy of the U.S. citizen fighting on the Nazi side - we're not talking about people in uniform here, in formal military organizations. We're talking about nominal citizens, and yes, in my opinion Article III, Section 3 of the Constitution specifically and definitely applies here. If the U.S. government wants to shoot a U.S. citizen due process must be followed.
Were he at the range he’d be pumping ‘em all into the bullseye with every pull of the trigger. Good one. Appreciate the ping jaz.
I rarely disagree with Dr. Sowell, but I do here -- a prostitute is at least honest about what she'll do to you and how much it costs, and won't try to snow you with a bunch of false promises.

My worry is the other side of that ‘coin’. Every time I visit the VA Clinic or Hospital, they ask me if I’m depressed or suicidal. While I appreciate their concern (no, I’m definitely not either) I can see this becoming a way to declare many veterans to be “mentally and/or emotionally unfit to possess a weapon.”
My nearest VA hospital just installed a very high wrought iron fence around the grounds, complete with rolling gate to close the entrance. $600,000! Hmmmmm? Tin foil hat time???
“While I usually agree with Dr. Sowell, what happens when someone (executive order) declares the NRA, the Tea Party, or Free Republic a terrorist organization?”
My thoughts as well Sergio. With this lying administration, it really depends on whose defining a terrorist.

For me, it rests on whether or not you insert yourself into a war zone on foreign soil.
If you are at an NRA convention in Las Vegas, you should be constitutionally protected.
If you are at an ‘NRA convention’ in Pakistan shooting at our military or supporting those who do, I don’t think the constitution applies, there.
LOL, drones don’t care about stuff like that. :)
