I’d like to point out a few things about this. CBS News has observed that the seat was vacated by “the former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.” If Jackson had been a Republican, they wouldn’t have passed up this opportunity to remind everyone that he was hospitalized for mental illness during the campaign and didn’t attend a single campaign event, but won anyway; and that he is currently under federal indictment, which is why he resigned.
Also, what we have here is a Death Match between two wings of the Democratic Party: the wing that tolerates portions of the Second Amendment, and the wing that would prefer to repeal the Second Amendment completely.
In some congressional districts, mainly in the big midnight blue cities, that’s all you get. No real challenge from the Republicans. Just civil wars between Democrats. But it’s a Death Match, like I said: it’s really bitter and hateful.
