Hopefully I’ll be sleeping but of course I’ll have to watch later at work...sigh. Maybe Ted will do something interesting.

On another subject could Pope Benedict have stacked the deck with conservatives who will pick a strong, anti abortion, anti communist replacement? I don’t know much about the Cardinal from Nigeria who is supposed to ge a front runner. IIRC he isn’t strong on pro life.

Yes! Pope Benedict was installing cardinals who are very conservative! The Cardinal that is the top runner is from Ghana. A very good man.

I actually liked Benedict better than John Paul. John Paul was a superstar and he really appealed to the youth. This pope is solid, conservative and leans to the traditional side. He was needed at this time in history. I believe he was thinking of the next pope during his time in office and setting the stage for the right man. He is cognizant of the attacks that all Christianity is under in this time in which we live. He must feel his job is done. It is being reported that he is resigning because of sex abuse scandals. Not on your life. He would not resign if his health was better. He recognizes that somebody younger and stronger needs to take over.

Well done, papa Benedict. I’ll miss you. :-(
