I don’t think I do have it backwards. Look at the case of Jerry Sandusky. He had a long stable sexually active and fruitful marriage to a woman, and prior to that marriage only had a record of dating women. He was a straight man.
He also had a sickness of idiopathic origin that made him want to have sex with young boys. There is no anti-gay ban on earth that would have had any effect in stopping Sandusky, because he was not gay. He was a heterosexual male pedophile whose victims were male. And the research shows that is who becomes child molesters of both boys and of girls.
Men who - often through some sexual trauma they themselves experienced as a child - have normal heterosexual relationships with other adults, but also a second sexual identity that compels them to molest children.
And again, I reiterate as well that I think it is remarkable that the people on this thread ONLY seem interested in stopping these men from abusing young boys, and seem totally indifferent to the far far more common crime of abusing young girls. I guess that’s mostly because it’s a Boy Scout thread, but I wonder.

A person who sexually desires a male (of whatever age) is, by definition, a homosexual, or at least bisexual. No man who sexually desires other males (of whatever age) can be considered "straight". Are you really going to continue to argue this?
This is a Boy Scout thread, on the topic of allowing gays in, and concerns about sexual molestation. That is the topic. You can start a thread on the subject of men who like molesting young girls any time you want.
The gay subculture even has a term for older homosexuals who prefer young boys: Chickenhawk. There's an organization for such (NAMBLA). There's documentaries on the subculture. The orientation is a recognized part of homosexuality.
