Ender's Game author Orson Scott Card has called gay marriage 'the end of democracy' – and some comics fans want him fired

Superman fans are up in arms at the decision of the publisher to appoint a noted anti-gay writer to pen the Man of Steel's latest adventures.

Comic giant DC has commissioned Orson Scott Card, author of the award-winning and best-selling Ender's Game sci-fi series, to write for DC's Adventures of Superman series. The digital comic is set to be published in April.

The news has sparked a furious backlash from Card's critics. Card is a long-time critic of homosexuality and has called gay marriage "the end of democracy in America". In 2009 he became a board member of the National Organization for Marriage, a group that campaigns against same-sex marriage.

Why we, as a nation, continue to pander to a group that is, but its own reckoning, less than 4% of our society as a whole.... is well beyond me to understand!

WHY are our politicians so afraid to speak their minds about this? WHY are they pommeled by the Lame Stream Media for their moral upbringing (IF they have any!?)

WHY are we allowing the gays to continually call the shots?

Exactly. It will be interesting to see of DC Comics caves.

The homo agenda pushers are Nazis. And so were the German Nazis, so it is an apt comparison.

So the comics code in the fifites kicked out overt heterosexual and extreme violence, gore imagery so it could be replaced with queer sex fifty years later.

Um, did you ever read a Batman comic back in the day? I'm just saying, it didn't take 50 years!

Whatever we call ourselves including gay, America and the Constitution should come first.

Remember Pastor Niemoller’s words from Germany.

Everybody’s freedom is everybody’s business.

It’s an amazing combination of media and lock-step brainwashed mouthbreathers with access to this media. One can effortlessly express an opinion instantly.

The artists and writers of 50 years ago had it better in a lot of ways.

And so it begins.

Zeus Comics Announces Boycott Of Adventures Of Superman

Zeus Comics in Dallas, Texas, is the first comic store to state that they will not be carrying the print edition of Adventures Of Superman, while Orson Scott Card writing a story for the comic. On Facebook, they posted;

Zeus Comics will not be carrying the print edition of writer Orson Scott Card’s Superman.

Card sits on the board of the National Organization of Marriage which fights against marriage equality. His essays advocate the destruction of my relationship, that I am born of rape or abuse and that I am equated with pedophilia. These themes appear in his fiction as well.

It is shocking DC Comics would hire him to write Superman, a character whose ideals represent all of us.

If you replaced the word “homosexuals” in his essays with the words “women” or “jews” he would not be hired. But I’m not sure why its still okay to “have an opinion” about gays? This is about equality.

From my husbands tumblr – a scan of a recent Superman comic and what’s interpreted as possible gay teen suicide.
