Since taking office in 2009, food stamp rolls under President Barack Obama have risen to more than 47 million people in America, exceeding the population of Spain.
Now is the time to act boldly and wisely to not only revive this economy, but to build a new foundation for lasting prosperity, said Obama during his first joint session address to Congress on Feb. 24, 2009.
Since then, the number of participants enrolled in food stamps, known as the Supplemental Assistance Nutrition Program (SNAP), has risen substantially.
When Obama entered office in January 2009 there were 31,939,110 Americans receiving food stamps. As of November 2012the most recent data availablethere were 47,692,896 Americans enrolled, an increase of 49.3 percent.

Nothing in our founding documents indicates that “The king shall tax its citizens and send their treasure to foreign kings” so the amount we spend on feed our own does not hold a candle to the foreign aid and feeding and paying or others in foreign lands.
Leftists consider this a resounding success I bet
Obviously the answer to this problem in more/higher taxation and regulation.
In honor of that, for a short time only, the USDA is including a free meal for 4 at your favorite TAPAS restaurant as part of their EBT/SNAP program!
Will this nightmare ever end?
A dark time in our country.
Yep. The yearly cost for the food stamp program is less than 10% of the deficit. The whole program could be shut down, but that wouldn’t save the government from default. The total cost of pork from federal government to state and local governments, though, is sky high (regulator/overseer costs, public education, other so-called “family” programs, etc.).
They don’t consider the welfare state costs the problem, undertaxation they do
All entitlements and pork together eat up a majority of the annual spending I think
If we weren’t spending money on countries that hate us we could support 2 or 3 spains worth of leeches...
Yes. “All entitlements and pork together” are huge—enormous! I reckon we—the younger half of Baby Boomers and younger—will work ‘till we die.
