State Sen. Barbara Buono, the Democratic legislator who is the foremost challenger to Gov. Chris Christie this fall, has been issued a summons for not wearing a seat belt at the time of a car accident Monday night.

Buono suffered a small cut to her forehead.

Buono was the only person involved in the crash who received medical treatment for injuries, police said. She said in a statement this morning that she made a mistake in not buckling up.

"Don't make the same mistake as me: wear a seat belt no matter where you're sitting," the senator tweeted from her gubernatorial campaign account.

“She’s doing fine – she was released from the hospital pretty much immediately,” added David Turner, a Buono spokesman. “ She’s back at work this morning.”

Around 8 p.m., the senator was a passenger in the the backseat of her Jeep Wrangler as it traveled down Easton Avenue in the area of Cedar Grove Lane, said Sgt. Philip Rizzo, a police spokesman.

How many times to I have to tell you that rules don’t apply to liberals.

And if they are a senator (of any kind), they aren’t intelligent enough to read the d*mn things anyway.

Wasn't that also true about our spectacular ex-Gov, Jon Corzine?

I.e., he wasn't wearing his seat belt when he was involved in a car accident a few years ago.

Corzine was hurt a lot worse than Buono. Guess he got the best health care money could buy (this happened before it was discovered he had looted MF Global).

...the senator was a passenger in the the backseat of her Jeep Wrangler

Her designated driver should have made sure she was buckled in.

So she didn’t buckle her seat belt - ooooooooh! THROW THE BOOK AT HER!!

What is the big deal? Did she injure anybody besides herself? No!

Did she endanger anybody besides herself? No!

Now, she might have promoted this imposition of slavery on the populace - and she should rot in jail for that!

wear a seat belt no matter where you're sitting

Heck yes! I just put one on my crapper. It helps quite a bit.
