Seven inmates, each of whom had an accomplice, partook in the felony practice that could net them 7 more years in jail, only this time, it will be an upstate prison.

All 14 people who were involved in the Rikers Island money scam were arrested Tuesday and charged with third-degree grand larceny. Each faces up to seven years in prison if found guilty. They were working the system, if nothing else.

Seven Rikers Island inmates conned the state into paying them $160,000 in unemployment benefits while they were living in the big house — a felony that may get them moved to state prison if convicted, the state Department of Labor said Tuesday.

Hard labor.

Make them pay back every penny and don’t let them out of prison until they accomplish this by breaking rocks, making license plates or by harvesting their organs.

Enough already.

With the NY State Unemployment system now completely online it is entirely possible to have your UI benefits signed for and directed into your bank account for 99 weeks without ever talking to a human.

One of the not-so-secret little scams is that a large portion of cab drivers are collecting benefits while driving a hack-whether the advent of credit card use in yellow cabs will make a dent in this racket remains to be seen!
