President Barack Obama wants an increase in the minimum hourly wage from the current $7.25 to $9 by the end of 2015. Obama also proposes the minimum wage be required to keep pace with inflation. …

The proposal, which Obama made during his State of the Union address Tuesday, is sure to draw opposition from business groups and congressional Republicans who say higher rates increase costs and reduce employment. …

No minimum wage, abolish all workplace safety laws, allow employers to hire whoever they want regardless of sex, and religion or color. Abolish workplace harassment laws and affirmative action programs. That’ll fix the economy.

I can’t pay for 0bamaCare on $9 per hour. Better make it $100.

China doesn`t think so. Watch the outflow of manufacturing to that country if obama/soetoro gets his way.

Obama is like a kid that stole his mother’s grocery money and spent it on candy and soda for his pals.
They all love him and think he is a great guy.

Meanwhile, his mother had to buy food for the family on credit with no way to pay it back.

I do not share your belief in Wall Street. The stock market has been happily sucking on the teet of Free Gov’t money and it will not stop soon. It may go down like it always does after he speaks to make adjustments, but it will soar again. The stock market priced in gold however, ouch reality. Wall Street has a big interest in Uncle sugar’s monetary policy. Maybe you will be right, but the stock market has been disconnected from our economy and every other country’s economy for some time. It only makes minor adjustments to major shifts. Crony Capitalism Alert. Correction... President of recovery illusion alert.

I agree. It’s to keep the “regular guy” (uninformed voter) on his side. Many businesess already pay $9.00+ per hour. They have to because they’re competing with unemployment benefits and entitlement benefits.

It’s all “smoke and mirrors.”

$9.00 is not $9.00.

An employer also has additional costs that come with that figure.

An increase in the employer’s Social Security matching payment.

An increase in unemployment compensation costs based upon payroll to the state and federal government.

An increase in workman’s compensation costs based upon payroll.

A decrease in net profits of the business.

An increase in the costs of doing business.

And, depending on the state, a whole host of other increases in cost of doing business.

You can bet that $9.00 will turn out to be over $15.00 per hour after all of the smoke clears.

I own a small business and I can tell you that any increase in the minimum wage is a Fascist move by the government to trick the population paying more taxes through an increased wage structure.

The “icing on the cake” is that higher employee costs does not help minimum wage workers.....it get’s them fired!

Why not pass the Obama Minimum Wage quickly and quietly with no fanfare and then watch the fun begin?

Hmm. San Francisco raised its minimum wage to $10.29/hour and it damaged employment and business in general. - by Olog-hai

Why not $25/hr or more? - 2ndDivisionVet

If $9/hour minimum is good, then $50/hour would be great! Right? - PGR88

just make it $38 an hour and make it equal to welfare payments and all the other crap.

No wait, that is tax free stuff. Never mind. They won’t work for $38 an hour if you give ‘em welfare better make it $45... that’ll fix it. - Sequoyah101

Make the mimimum wage $100 per hour and overtime after 5 hours a day. - P-Marlowe

I would love, love, LOVE for the GOP in the house to pass a $100/hour minimum wage bill. - Anitius Severinus Boethius

I wonder, if Boehner had the balls to force through the House a bill raising minimum wage to $100/hr, what would the Democrat Senate and Obama do with it? - kevao

9.00...OK, but why stop there, now that the rules of economic forces no longer apply to the economy…- by The Antiyuppie

Hey, lets raise minimum wage to one million dollars an hour! We will all be rich? What could go wrong? - donmeaker

let's make America a country of millionaires and make the minimum wage $250/hr!? . . . After all, fair is fair!! - DustyMoment

Republicans . . . should introduce a bill to raise the minimum wage to $50 an hour - TBP

I can’t pay for 0bamaCare on $9 per hour. Better make it $100. - TigersEye

what if they call your bluff and pass it? - cableguymn

At last I understand why the FReepathons keep getting longer . . . everyone here is a small-thinking piker!

Republicans should pass a “minimum wage” bill setting the minimum at at least $100 trillion per hour. That would make the point that the Republicans passed an increase bill - and also make the point that the economy can’t work, and the dollar can’t retain any value, if nobody can hire anybody because there aren’t enough dollars in the world to do so. A “minimum wage” bill is also a maximum value of the dollar bill. The day after that law went into effect, the dollar would cease to be money. Money could still exist, but only in the form of gold and silver coins - the only kind of money the Constitution allows the States to produce.

But just to be safe, the Republicans should also include term limits in the bill, to guarantee that the Democrats wouldn’t pass it.

when in fact inflation is presently running at more than 10% per annum.

I dunno how that can be. The S.S, Administration said inflation was 01.8% in 2012. They wouldn't lie to old people would they?

You play by the rules. More employers will start paying under the table like many already do. I had a neighbor who prepared tax returns for small businesses and he said all of them had at least a few employees that never get counted on payroll.

Well, I don’t know about you, but I am so relieved that when this passes, people will have enough money to pay their astronomical Obamacare health care cost increases.

This really benefits the business owners. Obmacare increases their costs per employee, but raising the minimum wage raises the cost per employee. Oh wait, it doesn’t benefit them. Well, I guess they will have to lay off more minimum wage people.

So sorry, fixed it.

I thought it was obvious

I guess these days satire and sarcasm are easily confused with reality and both are often more logical and rational than the actual actions and comments of this administration

Pelosi’s house raised minimum wage in the 3rd qtr of 2009, unemployment immediately started to increase. Now we have an unemployment rate for younger workers in the mid 20% range.

Facts are irrelevent and the seals bark and clap.

I would love, love, LOVE for the GOP in the house to pass a $100/hour minimum wage bill. Then when the Senate and President oppose it, just run on that:

The Republicans wanted to give you a $100/hour minimum wage, but the Democrats said “No!”. The Democrats say they are for the working poor, but when the bill came to them, they turned you down.

Make the Democrats try to explain to the “low information voters” (i.e. stupid people) why they voted it down.

That is a great idea. One that would resonate with the low-info voters.

< FacePalm > Our leftist rulers know that they have supercharged entitlements too fast and now they are scared that unemployment is being caused by "work doesn't pay". Why work when bennies are so high? Right?

The solution that THEY come up with is to raise the minimum wage? < /FacePalm >
