In a Rare Move, S. Korean Military Releases Video Footage of Cruise Missiles to Public
Cruise missiles are launched from warships and submarines in the video clip released by the Defense Ministry, hitting targets on land.
Although Defense Ministry officials refrained from releasing specific details on the missiles' range, they did say it has the capacity to strike any target in North Korea, no matter where in the South the missile is fired from, which means it probably has a range of more than 1-thousand kilometers.
This is not the first time the Defense Ministry has confirmed the deployment of cruise missiles in the country.
The military released a 40-second clip of a cruise missile last April, but Thursday's clip contained never-been seen footage of cruise missiles being launched from a warship or submarine platform.
Defense Ministry officials explained that they released the video to reassure South Korean citizens that the country is prepared to strike back in case of a provocation from the North.
Meanwhile, Defense Ministry officials are planning to speed up deployment of the so-called "kill-chain" command system, which can destroy missiles mid-air and target launch sites, deterring a missile threat before it happens.

Very expensive tests
Looks like a harpoon variant - maybe a little longer and with added boost for submerged launch.
Well its a cylinder, but after that it has no resemblance to a Harpoon. The spherical nose cap sets it apart from the Harpoon and Exocet clones.
The lack of foward wings is also odd. It looks more like an ASROC (rocket projected torpedo) than a cruise missile.
well - some of the block IIs had a less cone shape on the nose - but your right it does look more ASROCy...like some photos of the tomohawk block IVs
