ISLAMABAD Romance is not dead in Pakistan, but its under attack.
Conservatives in Pakistan tacked up posters urging people to boycott Valentines Day on Thursday, saying its a western-inspired event thats spreading vulgarity in their country. Romantics fought back with an arsenal of flowers, pink teddy bears and heart-shaped balloons.
Here in this part of Pakistan we are faced with bomb blasts, and we dont have much opportunity to enjoy and celebrate so to me it is one of those few occasions to celebrate, said Taimur Hassan, a 29-year-old man working in the northwestern city of Peshawar. He was out buying a gift for his girlfriend, and looking for something different than a stuffed bear he got her last year.
Thats exactly the type of behavior many of Pakistans conservatives are worried about.

Conservatives? Or Islamists?
The corrupt media goes out of its way to smear conservatives in the U.S. (by word association games), and bends over backward to defend Fundamentalist Islamists.
Good God, WaPo... could you be more blatant in your bias toward American conservatives? The story pertains to Pakistan. How about substituting "islamists" for "conservatives?"
Amazing. Pot calling the stainless steel skillet black.
vul·gar /ˈvəlgər/ Adjective 1. Lacking sophistication or good taste; unrefined: "the vulgar trappings of wealth". 2. Making explicit and offensive reference to sex or bodily functions; coarse and rude: "a vulgar joke". Synonyms common - coarse - rude - gross - low - rough - plebeian
Most civilized people understand everything about islam is vulgar, in both senses of the word. There's nothing coarse or sexual about children exchanging candy and Valentine's Day cards; the coarseness and the vulgarity is all in the mind of the muslim. And blowing yourself up? 'Vulgarity' doesn't begin to capture it. We're nuts to bring any of them into our midst. They should be quarantined.
If radical Muslims could create a ‘rape and hate’ holiday, they would. Makes sense in a twisted way that Valentine’s Day is offensive to the true believers. God, what horrible people.
You stated my thoughts perfectly. Yeah, WaPo is hoping to plant in the minds of the sheeple the idea that we conservatives are of like mind with these koranimals.
