A school principal said no white children were allowed at an after-school tutoring program, and now some parents call it discrimination.
The principal at Mission Viejo Elementary in Aurora sent a letter telling parents the program is only for students of color. Parents CBS4 talked with said they were shocked to see, in this day and age, what they consider to be segregation.
“I was infuriated. I didn’t understand why they would include or exclude certain groups,” said parent Nicole Cox, who is white.
Cox’s 10-year-old daughter needs tutoring. After receiving the notice, other parents complained to the school’s principal, Andre Pearson.
“We have come so far in all of these years to show everybody that everyone is equal, that everyone should be treated equally … this is a form of bullying,” Cox said.
Before Cox could complain to the school, Pearson contacted her directly. His voicemail only seemed to reinforce the segregated tutoring idea.
“This is Andre Pearson. It’s focused for and designed for children of color, but certainly, if we have space for other kids who have needs, we can definitely meet those needs,” Pearson told Cox in the voicemail.
Pearson declined to comment on camera, but a district spokesperson claims it was all just a big misunderstanding.
“I think what the answer is, is that he made a mistake,” Tustin Amole with the Cherry Creek School District told CBS4.
The new tutoring program was started by parents of minority students to help bridge the achievement gap.
The district is now clarifying that the program wasn’t meant to segregate anyone.
“But we have had lots of students sign up for the tutoring. Many of them are white and we will be accepting all of them,” Amole said.
“I just want everybody to be treated equally,” Cox said.
The new tutoring program began Wednesday. CBS4 was told a letter would be going out to parents to clarify the error that was made.

It's hard finding a picture of this Andre Pearson guy. There are zillions of pictures of different guys all over the country with the same name (mugshots), and when I filter it to Aurora CO, there is nothing, not even at the school's website. Might be a shot of him on the video of the story at the article source link.
If I had to guess, I'd say he's a "Person of Color" because that's the term he uses, and I've never heard a white person use that phrase. This article throws it around like manhole covers.
Look no further than Black Liberation Theology. In order for blacks to get, whites must lose.
Now there is a program being instituted in school thinking and teaching that ‘white privilege’ has always been what kept blacks down and now it is whiteys’ turn to suffer.
Update: I sat through the video, and the Principal is, in fact, a “Person of Color.” They had a picture.
what do these teachers and administrators do when a class of students fail even with the tutoring?
We already have a lost generation of boys due to drugs and quotas.
That is 100% correct. They only lied about it being a misunderstanding when they got caught. I’m sure they never thought what they were doing was wrong. Never entered their mind (singular “mind” on purpose).
I guess that also eliminates Mexicans with upper class (white in Mexico) backgrounds?

Response: Whites are so stupid that they did not forsee the consequences of the abdication of their right to dominate our society. Whites are now starting to feel the whip of servitude. Whites no longer will receive the perks but must learn to accept the consequences of being a people conquered by the Third World. Such consequences shall include but not be limited to: beatings on the streets; verbal degradation and insult; second place in seeking and receiving jobs; surrendering their property to members of the conquering Third World(poverty); inferior education for their children; as the reported example evidences.

It’s not just the boys...the girls are getting rough these days, too. We’re seeing a lot of stories about girl-gangs beating up old folks in Chicago (of course).

I am so tired of bigots like this guy.
I have a question for the people who designed and instituted this program. If the kids of all races in this school district go to the same schools, sit in the same classes with the same teachers, have access to the same equipment and are taught the same curriculum then why is there an "achievement gap?"
I would be very interested in their answers.
