The woman's name is Victoria Brink (not Brinks), and she seems like a nice young woman - not guilty. As for the Congressman, I have trouble seeing this as either a career-ender or a pretty sweet story. It's sweet when you marry your high school sweetheart and have a beautiful daughter like this girl. It sad when you jump in bed with a near stranger (someone who could spend the next nine months pregnant and you wouldn't notice) and then discover twenty one years later that you're a dad. It's creepy when a man in his 60s is chasing a young woman like this girl. The congressman missed sweet and he (apparently) missed creepy; I'm going with sad.

I am willing to take this story and Rep. Steve Cohen's explanation at face value until it is proved false.
Most if not all of us have something in our background that could come back to haunt us. If Rep. Cohen is telling the truth, then I applaud him for facing up to it and not lying like 99.9999% of all politicians would.

I assume he's just asking for a good time when he could call, but some people might misinterpret him asking her to give him "a good time".

He's a democrat, so it's silly to hope the media will be as rough on him as they are on a republican who does something questionable. I suspect they will continue to go easy on him. It's not like he took a drink of water or something similarly career ending.

From the Atlantic Wire story:

“While we’re eager to find out more details in the story of the Tennessee congressmen and his secret bikini-clad daughter, we’re in no rush to dive into another Twitter-induced political scandal. There are more important things going on in the world.”

Conspicuous by its absence is any statement from Miss Brink confirming that yes, she is the congressman’s daughter. The Atlantic Wire reporter apparently didn’t even try to contact her for confirmation. He just took the Democratic congressman’s word for it.

We all know what the Atlantic Wire reporter would have done and written if Cohen had been a Republican. But hey, he’s a Democrat. Nothing to see here. Time to move on.

Things like this happen a lot in recent decades. I think people should leave the young woman alone. Perhaps the comments such as some in this thread are WHY the mother didn’t tell him.

Some are saying the mother was a stranger to the guy? Then how did he remember her name to look her up? And, for the poster who said how would you see someone for 9 mos. while pregnant and not know? How do you know he was even around?
