With GOP Filibuster, Chuck Hagelís Rocky Road Continues (BUT Repubs promise to cave anyway!)

Senate Republicans filibustered President Barack Obama’s nominee to be the next Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel, by a razor thin vote of 58-39 Thursday, with one senator voting present. But all hope for Hagel is not lost. Just because they still want more time to debate their former Republican colleague’s nomination, doesn’t mean that Hagel’s confirmation is dead.

At least three Republican senators – John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Richard Burr – said that they simply want more time and intend to vote for cloture – a parliamentary procedure that ends a filibuster by limiting debate to 30 hours that requires a supermajority of 60 votes – when the Senate returns from recess the week of Feb. 25. “I will oppose cloture because debate should continue and when we get back – unless there is a bombshell – I’ll vote for cloture and move on to his nomination,” Graham said on the floor of the Senate on Thursday.

The key in Graham’s statement is the “bombshell.” Republicans still hoping to kill Hagel’s nomination will surely spend the next week combing over his past speeches looking for just that.

But the biggest challenge to Hagel’s confirmation has had little to do with his fitness for the job but with McCain and Graham’s demand that the White House provide more documents on the Sept. 11 Benghazi attack. The duo said earlier Thursday that they would filibuster Hagel until the White House produced those documents...

So they'll confirm him anyway in a few weeks. Yes, the Repubs certainly are making a difference. Look for a Dem House in 2014.

Why is it that everytime the GOP gets taught a lesson, it is me that ends up suffering?

It wasn’t a filibuster, but Reid made sure every headline screams “filibuster”.

It was to avoid a vote for now, until “more info” is forthcoming. That’s not a filibuster.

Wish it was a filibuster, ‘cause if ever a nominee deserved one, it’s Hagel for SecDef.

Just a delay. Then they call it a victory even though they have no real intent to stop him

They will make lots of noise and vote to confirm - it’s that simple.

The old Republican party can follow the lead of Mr. Kerry and say, we were really against him until we took a walk, vacation, went to the first gay marriage in the Senate with Mr. Graham as the blushing bride and Mr. McCain as the best person ,whatever the excuse for folding.
Mr. Kerry is already stabbing Israel in the back, Mr. Hegel is just another hand with a waiting knife.

Of course not, how can a former Senator be unfit? Not prudent to say they are, not prudent at all.

I just love these turncoats, I'm adding a new abbreviation to the political lexicon for the most hen-pecked liberal progressive Republicans. The WHINO

These WHINO's are always crying like babies and conseding defeat.

Bloonberg (styrofoam, big gulp soda WHINO,

Christie ( Fat ass, pay all my bills King Barack!)

WHINO, Graham ( I'm really not a Faggot)

WHINO, McCain ( Just can't get enough in kickbacks & Bribes) WHINO! Just to name a few of our premere WHINO's

Nominate your favorite WHINO today!
