Texas Senator (Cruz) Goes on Attack and Raises Bipartisan (especially libtard and MSM) Hackles
New York Times ^ | February 15, 2013 | Jonathan Weisman

Posted on 02/15/2013 9:24:30 PM PST by Zakeet

As the Senate edged toward a divisive filibuster vote on Chuck Hagel’s nomination to be defense secretary, Senator Ted Cruz, Republican of Texas, sat silent and satisfied in the corner of the chamber — his voice lost to laryngitis — as he absorbed what he had wrought in his mere seven weeks of Senate service.

Mr. Hagel, a former senator from Mr. Cruz’s own party, was about to be the victim of the first filibuster of a nominee to lead the Pentagon. The blockade was due in no small part to the very junior senator’s relentless pursuit of speeches, financial records or any other documents with Mr. Hagel’s name on them going back at least five years. Some Republicans praised the work of the brash newcomer, but others joined Democrats in saying that Mr. Cruz had gone too far.

Without naming names, Senator Barbara Boxer, Democrat of California, offered a biting label for the Texan’s accusatory crusade: McCarthyism.

[Snip]

In just two months, Mr. Cruz, 42, has made his presence felt in an institution where new arrivals are usually not heard from for months, if not years. Besides suggesting that Mr. Hagel might have received compensation from foreign enemies, he has tangled with the mayor of Chicago, challenged the Senate’s third-ranking Democrat on national television, voted against virtually everything before him — including the confirmation of John Kerry as secretary of state — and raised the hackles of colleagues from both parties.

He could not be more pleased. Washington’s new bad boy feels good.

Too bad we don’t have more Republicanslike him

I wonder how long it will take before they make a Eunoch of him like they have the rest of the Republicans in the Senate.

I get a bad taste in my mouth every time I hear the name John McCain or Lindsey Graham.

I really like Ted Cruz. He is the best of the new members.
What a breath of fresh air. You GO Ted!

This is the man I will support for POTUS if he stays
true to his message. I love to see him taking on the
PTB. He is unafraid to do the right thing and he does
it right to their faces. I’m sure that he is pressured
from all sides but he stands up to them. He is a man of
honor and spine.

1 Cruz missile in the Senate has the potential to make Obama an early lame duck; 6 more Cruz missiles in the Senate and Obama is a dead duck.

This complaint is coming from the party of Harry Reid, who said Romney never paid any taxes and could be a felon.

I am sure Cruz would be a good president, but as a Hispanic native-born Canadaian, the prospect is unlikely.

The funny thing in this article is that the hyper race aware NY Times never mentions Hispanic. They do make sure the inform us he was born in Canada though.

So tired of the McCarthy red herrings. McCarthy was a loudmouth, yes. McCarthy had a drinking problem, yes.

However, McCarthy was EXACTLY spot on about communists in the govt., as history has proven. Further, Richard Nixon (then a Repr.) and later Bobby Kennedy worked to out them.

McCarthyism is yet another figment of the lsm's useful (to Dems) imaginations when dealing with the truth. They STILL declare McCarthyism is rampant when a true conservative goes after a truth that is harming the nation.---

Benghazi, anyone?

History tells us that Joe McCarthy was right about KGB in US State Department. After the fall of the USSR we now know he was only wrong about the numbers. He said their were 57 Communists in Government—we know it really was 106.
Who can say how many Radical Muslims are in the Government today?
