Good and bad news. With ammo in short supply using it to train seems problematic. I would suggest hanging on to it if you have your rifle sighted in. A better use of time at the range now would be to find a few friends to train with... imho.

I got the Sterling for that price.
It’s kind of a puzzle to field strip but can be done with no tools.
The thing is a tank, and reliable.
The bolt alone has 64 machine operations involved in its manufacture.
The bolt was made to spit out mud and keep going.

I like it a lot, but it is heavy.

No, I haven’t tried a Mec-Gar 15-round mag yet. Hi Point came out and stated that using them would void the warranty.

The original versions were causing damage to the bolt face I believe.

I bought some extra HP 10-round mags so I have a total of 5 for now.

How would sight picture, point of impact compare when shooting an AR with a .22lr insert? If it’s on at 25 yards with .22lr, would it be on with 5.56 at typical 5.56 yardage?

I was pleasantly surprised to find out the rifle mags work in the little 9mm pistols with the compensator on the end (which I picked up at a gunshow for a song four years ago).

I was going down to sight in an optic.
I never did get that done.
I got swept away with the enthusiasm of the moment and just enjoyed the day outdoors with like minded people.

It sounds ok here now but still distorted.
It was really distorted earlier.

It must be on my end.

Yeah, its still distorted.

Yeah, the 91/30 kicks.
Even the old 91 (1897 that is longer kicks)

The M44 kicks like a mule on crack.

It is not the same but it is close.
The 5.56x45 is 62 grain projectile.
The .22 is probably 40 grain.

The AR uses a 1 in 9 twist (basic)
And the .22 used 1 in 12, and AR inserts use the existing .223 barrel.

Still, they are great, inexpensive, and relatively accurate for reduced cost training and plinking.

That’s a great answer.

I guess I figured also that every man Jack has a .22 in his closet somewhere and can also afford to buy a few bricks, just in case.

Can’t blame ‘em I’ve been doing the same for months on other calibers. But the lowly .22s were the one staple I got caught out on...

Excellent.

Yeah that is the way it is, it comes in dribs and drabs.
If you see it online just order it.
Don’t wait till later.
It will be gone in 2 hours.

“No ship dates they just say “IN STOCK at Warehouse”.”

I’m still waiting for a case of .50cal 10-rnd mags and another 1k rnds of 230gr .45cal ACP; still no ship dates, after confirmation back in Dec.
