Feds buying enough bullets for '24-year war'

"Radio host warns: DHS preparing for prolonged riots in U.S."

Federal, non-military agencies, noted radio host Mark Levin last week, have purchased enough ammunition recently to not only shoot every American five times, but also engage in a prolonged, domestic war.

The numbers are based on recent reports that put the total federal ammunition buy in the last 10 months at approaching two billion rounds.

“To provide some perspective,” Levin noted, “experts estimate that at the peak of the Iraq war American troops were firing around 5.5 million rounds per month. At that rate, the [Department of Homeland Security] is armed now for a 24-year Iraq war. A 24-year Iraq war!”

What do federal agencies need with all that ammunition?

The government’s only official explanation for the massive ammo buy is that law enforcement agents in the respective agencies need the bullets for “mandatory quarterly firearms qualifications and other training sessions.”

The staggering number and lack of details in the official explanation, however, has led to rampant speculation, including concerns the DHS is arming itself to fight off insurrection among Americans.

“I’m going to tell you what I think is going on,” Levin offered. “I don’t think domestic insurrection. Law enforcement and national security agencies, they play out multiple scenarios. … I’ll tell you what I think they’re simulating: the collapse of our financial system, the collapse of our society and the potential for widespread violence, looting, killing in the streets, because that’s what happens when an economy collapses.

“I suspect that just in case our fiscal situation, our monetary situation, collapses, and following it the civil society collapses, that is the rule of law, they want to be prepared,” Levin said. “I know why the government’s arming up: It’s not because there’s going to be an insurrection; it’s........

It can't be for “mandatory training”, because those agencies don't have that many armed staff.

The Federal buys are making it difficult for State and local law enforcement to acquire ammo.

Since the general public is 3rd in line, this has a long term effect of drying up supply.

They are unaware of the number of folks who've planned ahead.

I'm also not worried about the Fed's training a bunch of desk jockeys, to act as some brown shirt squad.

I don’t buy it. The shortage creates more demand. The higher prices creates greater supply. 0bama doesn’t understand the free market so that may be his goal but it won’t work.

You are correct. The shortage of ammo is NOT due to a lack of production or government demand. The supply side of the equation is plusher than it has ever been. Bottom line, retailers are continuing to sell volumes of ammo greater than ever before.

There is a shortage due to civilian demand, which has skyrocketed and is not abaiting. Gunstores have sold boxes of ammo that have been setting on the shelves for years, at the same time that they are selling new ammo by the pallet.

It is no different than what you see at grocery stores before a big storm hits.

The American people have taken a good look at the forecast and firmly believe that a major storm is on its way. They are simply preparing. This is in fact a very positive sign. No tyrant likes to see their enemy stockpiling millions of bunkers.

“Feds buying enough bullets for ‘24-year war’”

Americans have enough bullets to drill every DHS employee 476,000 times.

You are right, but try and tell that to people that have convinced themselves otherwise.

The limited number of calibers of ammo they are buying and the very specific specs for the ammo wouldn’t create a shortage in anything but that specific ammo in the specific caliber from that specific company that mfg. the specific ammo.

If this is to be delivered over a 5 year period, while still troubling because of the ammo specs, it’s just a drop in the bucket compared to the overall amount of ammo produced.

The shortage in all types of ammo is because the American people that never felt a “want” to own a gun before now feel a “need” to own a gun and are buying and they need ammo to go with it.

People that were smart enough to already own a gun are buying ammo in every caliber.

The American people aren’t idiots, they sense something is seriously wrong and it is getting worse and it is getting worse by design.

About a hundred years or so, give or take, assuming proper storage in a dry, cool place.

At least that's what I've heard.

Depending on what you have and how you store it. I still shoot ammo made in the 1930’s.

Wrong conspiracy theory. They’re buying up vast quantities of ammo to drive up prices and ultimately drying up the market for it, in line with Obama’s “we can’t wait”/”We’ll take administrative action” strategy against the 2nd Amendment. They figured out that they can’t ban or confiscate guns directly, but that they can get at the ammo.

It'd be interesting to know which companies were the winning bidders for each of these contracts. There are only so many manufacturers and each can only set up to make a limited range of calibers on each production line. This theory may have been more successful than anyone is guessing - or it may have huge holes in it.

Sometimes FedBizOps lists "interested vendors"; don't know if it follows through with the winning company's name.

It’s part of year 3 of the first 5-year plan, when the gov’t will harvest the rats, crows, and squirrels we will need for food.

BINGO!

The gun grabbers has figured out that the way to limit firearms use is to greatly increase costs to gun owners through high taxing and new fees at all levels of government against firearm manufactures, ammunition manufactures, dealers, related suppliers and firearm owners.

Read the following article if you dare and have a barf bucket near by. But this is what is being planned for us by Fed, state and local governments.

Lewis Diuguid: To reduce gun ownership, just tax the weapons

“Americans will never surrender their lust for guns. That unwavering attachment to guns should make every gun and bullet subject to federal, state, county and municipal taxes in addition to sales taxes. Think of the bonanza governments could reap.”.....

I'm also not worried about the Fed's training a bunch of desk jockeys, to act as some brown shirt squad.

Training is definitely a component, though. That DHS contract for 7000 "Personal Defense Weapons" has a training clause in the statement of work, even including several "cutaway" examples of the firearms to be used by instructors.

I believe the military uses similar things during basic training.

Thanks folks! Ya’’ll are faster than the Internet!

I guess those expiration dates don't tell us anything about when they intend to use this ammo.

Could it be that DHS knew Obama’s gun control policies would drive up the cost of ammo?

Which Obama supporters profited from such a big sale?

I tend to agree with Levin. Insurrection is less likely BEFORE financial collapse & societal chaos, but very possible after such a collapse. Not a national insurrection, but a regional & local one, where communities band together to end the chaos, while ignoring the Feds. Secession could be a possibility.

The problems of the Feds will be much more than local insurrections, financial collapse, & chaos. As the world monetary system is based on the Dollar, world financial collapse is inevitable. Many nations holding US debt & Dollars will be outraged. Retaliation is possible, as is World War.

That theory only holds true if they were the significant purchasers of the ammo. The fact is, We the People are stocking up at an even greater rate. People are not stocking up some kind of personal collection, they are preparing for war. My estimate is that we are buying ammo at a 100:1 ratio over the feds. I know guys that have purchased over 1,000 cases and have built arms rooms into their new homes. Many people across the country have at least 10 cases, and I can’t tell you how many people I personally know that have at least 30-50 cases worth. We the People dwarf the feds in ammo stocks.
