EU lawmakers threaten to veto tightened budget

The leaders of the European Parliament are threatening to veto the bloc’s multi-annual budget because of its deep cuts.

The Christian Democratic EPP, the largest group in the legislature, said the 7-year budget worth €960 billion ($1.28 trillion) must be revised to realistically reflect the EU’s growing competences and responsibilities. …

The first cuts in the empire’s history, and the so-called MEPs want to “veto” it. They will only get another one of the same and vote on it; watch.

The MEPs are the only ones in that circus that are actually elected by popular vote. (That’s why they have the least power...)

Originally they weren’t. They only started getting elected in 1979. The Treaty of Nice put a cap on “Europarl’s” membership, making it no more than 732.

There is no separation of powers either, with the Commission having sole legislative initiative (the only body that can write laws) as well as having the power to pass them (executive power).
