As for Peres giving Obama a medal, I'm hardly surprised. Peres has been senile for quite some time, and his position as President in Israel is essentially ceremonial only. The medal does not imply that the current Israeli government or the Israeli people as a whole (not including Arabs) have any admiration for Hussein or his administration. Recall that Americans abroad in Israel voted an estimated 85% for Mitt Romney in the last election (if election officials in their respective states and counties here counted all those absentee ballots, that is).
