FITTON: Don’t Be Fooled By ‘Bipartisan’ Approach to Amnesty

More than a few Republicans in the United States Senate seem to have contracted a severe case of what Harry Truman called “Potomac Fever” (wanting to go along to get along in Washington). Apparently still trembling from the recent election debacle, they have cobbled together a deceptive and destructive “bipartisan” compromise on illegal alien amnesty.

Now, of course, the Senate Republicans aren’t calling their legislative legerdemain “instant legalization” as conservative journalist Charles Krauthammer properly characterized it. They know (as Judicial Watch demonstrated in its Election Day poll) that most Americans, including a good number of Hispanics, want the immigration laws enforced. So instead, in typical politispeak, you’ll hear senators use words like “pathway to citizenship” and “doing it for the children.”

Unfortunately, Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, clearly casting an eye to the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, has bought into the amnesty lie and is being used by the left to provide cover for their open borders proposal...

There is no question that the Senate plan is unjust. Illegal aliens have broken our laws, and they shouldn’t be rewarded with amnesty and immediate legalization. Here’s something else: Simply talking about providing a “pathway to citizenship” is only going to worsen the already out-of-control illegal immigration crisis by inducing greater numbers of illegal aliens to flood across the border to take advantage of the program. How do we know this?

Back in 2005, Judicial Watch uncovered a Border Patrol survey conducted by the Bush administration in 2004 to determine what impact amnesty would have on illegal immigration. Want to take a guess at the outcome? Even the rumor of Mr. Bush’s amnesty program led to a sharp spike in illegal immigration.

Apparently I’m not the only one to notice that Rubio’s slightly less offensive pro amnesty stance is being portrayed as the voice of opposition.

There is already a pathway to citizenship. It begins in the home country of the petitioner. There is really nothing unfair about requiring a prospective citizen to seek permission before coming here. There is also nothing reasonable about allowing an alien to sneak into this country and squeeze out a human to find out that person is suddenly an American.

We must remember that people are free when our legislators are scared, and we are most certainly not free when our legislators are cocky.

When a congress critter—regardless of his/her political stripe—says: “We need a pathway to citizenship!” s/he’s being disingenuous.

Here’s the problem: The above law assumes that would-be Americans are playing by the rules. Our rules.
We have crowd of people who have `bulled’ their way or crept to the head of the line at the movie theater and stand there demanding to be allowed inside. Furthermore they see no need to buy tickets while their friends and allies urge them on and abuse those who have been waiting and those inside, objecting to the line-jumping.
That common sense analysis that leads to the article statement: “that most Americans, including a good number of Hispanics, want the immigration laws enforced.”
Most critters see that the basement is flooded, but their proposal to ameliorate the problem is—not to plug the holes and bail—but to declare the fact that we’re `up to our keisters in alligators’ ... acceptable.
It’s kinda like their failure to pass a budget in 4 years!

So the problem further defined: Unfortunately we now happen to be a nation of men and not laws. Maybe they’re doing it “for the children”? Yeah, kick both these cans down the road, Congress.

Imho, Rubio has always been less than firm regarding the issue of amnesty. He has a history of making blanket statements against amnesty, while still opposing laws that attempt to reduce illegal immigration, and at the same time supporting laws that would reward illegals. He's also very ambitious, and it seems that the GOP is eyeing him as their next presidential nominee.

So according to congress and the US government, crime DOES PAY! But only if you're a mexican national sneaking into the US. So, if one were to follow this line of thinking, US citizens could sneak into mexico, reek havoc through looting and pillaging, and the mexican government would do nothing? So you're telling me that it's okay for me, a taxpayer, to pay to support a virtual slave labor force to farmers and factory owners, but I can't recoup my costs by doing the exact same thing that illegals do here, right now? Let's make this perfectly clear to any parties involved in trafficking and colluding with illegal aliens: If your arrest and detention is off limits to US law enforcement and immigration, then we're going to go after the source. Mexico is ripe for another european invasion, and this time around, we'll make the spanish seem nice by comparison. And no complaints, they've brought it upon themselves.

The GOP doesn't want to go along to get along. They get along with the Democrats because they agree with them wholeheartedly. Saying they are the Stupid Party, that they drink the water in D.C., or that they get Potomac Fever is just providing them cover like they aren't aware of their actions and they would come around eventually if they just had the courage.

The rank-n-file Republicans that have this thinking remind me of the low-level die hard Communists in Soviet Russian that end up in gulag. They think their imprisonment must be a mistake since they are good little Commies and if only Comrade Stalin knew of their predicament then they would be released immediately. They can't believe that their "leaders" would stab them in the back even when its happening right in front of them.
