I have seen posters do that before, people don’t seem to understand that the draft was just to fill the gaps left by enlistment shortages, and it varied from month to month, or year to year, if they needed 5,000 men then they would go to the man pool and draft the eligible ones instead of advertising for girls and moms to fill the gap.
In 1958 a 142,000 men were drafted to supplement the peacetime military, in 1970 a 163,000 men were drafted to supplement the Vietnam War military.
I believe Elvis Presley was drafted in 1958. A lot of fanfare when he first went in, but from everything I’ve heard or read about it, he was a pretty good soldier, asked for no special treatment.
