The average price of a gallon of gas has increased 96 percent since Barack Obama first took office in 2009, according to figures from the Energy Information Agency (EIA).
According to EIA data, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the United States was $1.838 on Jan. 19, 2009--the day before Obama took office. As of Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, the per-gallon price had risen to an average of $3.611--an increase of 96 percent.

Terrible article. It simply takes a trip to the gas station to know that prices up. How about, god forbid, someone take the time to examine why and put that on paper. We can even start with a question! “Why are gas prices historically high under Obama?”

Interesting to think that the East Coast is about to lose a majority of its refining ability.
It's George Bush's fault, or Halliburton's, or the greedy oil companies, or the gouging suppliers, or the oil sheiks, or the GOP Congress which refuses to pass modern energy legislation and cap and trade, or the gas guzzlers Americans are allowed to own, or... (fill in the blank)

On the dates mentioned, on January 19, 2009 an ounce of gold bought 453 gallons of gas. On Feb 11 2013 an ounce of gold bought 457 gallons of gas. If anything, then, gas is within 1% of being the same price in terms of gold as it was four years ago.

I keep hearing Conservatives and Republicans ranting about how this is the Obama’s fault, just like it was Bush’s fault to the Libs, yet nobody seems willing to provide a clear, honest answer on why gas prices are at a historic high. Is it the price per barrel of oil? Perhaps war, or reduction in oil refineries? It seems like everyone is quick to bash their political enemies without a shred of facts or evidence and doing so makes us sound like foolish libtard children.
If we want prices to go down we need to understand why. Playing blame game politics is a distraction and that plays perfectly into the status quo.
Libtards: “It’s the greedy oil companies. Kill them all and nationalize oil companies!”
Republicans and Conservatives: “It’s Obama’s fault. He’s a socialist Kenyan and this is his plan to destroy America.”
If Obama and his policies are to blame, which ones? I understand that this is likely a complex issue, but it’s something on the mind of everyone and we need some FACTS. If he and his policies are to blame, its important to know which ones so that we can effectively communicate that message.
I don’t recall the GOP making much of a fuss about the democrats causing fuel to double in cost. This should have been hammered into the voters brains. Assuming the media would allow it of course.
The Obamas think nothing of gas prices. They just get into the car or jet and naught a thought.
